The Me Generation: A Generation of Thieves by Evan Sayet
My generation the Me Generation and those like us have stolen every last penny from our parents savings accounts (Social Security). Weve used that money to make ourselves appear successful and to vote ourselves more and more things we claimed to be entitled to.
When that money ran out, those of us who followed the mantra we were taught in the Leftist run public schools, If it feels good, do it, simply stole our childrens money, mortgaging their future for our personal comforts. Weve borrowed so much against their account that the numbers now are written in trillions with each child born burdened with tens of thousands of dollars in debt money we spent on ourselves the moment they enter the world.
Now, with no more to steal from our parents or our children, many of us are demanding that we receive deeply discounted health-care services. Its something, we argue that were entitled to (for no other reason than that weve graced the world with our presence. )
The problem is that, forcing insurance companies to write bad policies to take in in premiums far less than what theyll have to dole out for the aging Boomers growing medical conditions is untenable. In fact, it is exactly the same formula these same Leftists used to force banks to make bad loans because they felt that everyone of their generation was entitled to own a house.
But the Boomers have a plan!

Ping!
Oh great, the boomer bashers will be along very soon.
That’s why we need illegal aliens: for their tax base.
Of course, they’re poor and minority meaning they won’t pay any taxes but our grandchildren can worry about that. :)
Ping list for the discussion of the politics and social (and sometimes nostalgic) aspects that directly effects Generation Reagan / Generation-X (Those born from 1965-1981) including all the spending previous generations are doing that Gen-X and Y will end up paying for.

This makes no sense... how could young people, most of whom have paid into social security but haven't gotten any of the benefits be accused of doing this?
Umm... You're a bit late. The author is a "boomer basher", and he ought to know: he are one!
I know. I’m just waiting for all the bashers here on FR.
Betrayed by a fraudulent educational system and misled by bitter communist holdovers the younger folks may well go down in history as the Dole Generation and I aint talking about Bob, Liddy or pineapple.
It's all about group identity politics: To some people, it doesn't matter what choices a person makes; what matters is what year he was born and what generation (i.e. group) he belongs to. If he belongs to a certain group, he's deemed guilty; if he's in another, he's innocent.
SS is a pay-as-you-go system. The money paid in by today's workers is paying for today's retirees. It isn't saved or invested. As a result, when there's more money in the SS Trust Fund than needed to pay benefits, it becomes a fat, tempting target to use for social programs.
It is also a "nice" regressive tax on the young who are not at the peak of their earning potential.
It’s a Democrat problem, not a generational problem.
The Democrats are responsible for Social Security and Medicare.
I dearly hope the Democrats receive full “credit” for the systems they have implemented.
Baby boomers allowed this country to fall into a political and moral quagmire. Now they want pats on the back for finally waking up. As they busily point the fingers at others. Too late, they already screwed it for me and my children.

“It’s all about group identity politics”
You summed it up nicely. I’m a boomer but I don’t think I’m guilty of the standard accusations that the Gen X, Y, Losers and Slackers bunch are. You see, I can do the group identity blame thing too.
No me! I don’t want the government touching my healthcare. I am a young boomer really more generation Jones but still seen as a boomer.
Excuse me, I’m 38 y.o., I’ve been working for 25 years. Let me give your ass a big tighten up about “gen x”. There are millions of us who have been and are currently working our asses off to support our families. I don’t want to hear any more shit from you and your gang about how worthless we are. Who do you think is funding your retirement? I’ll give you a hint, it’s not the illegals or layabouts.
I don’t give a rip of what you think. I’ve worked for over 35 years and am funding my own retirement. Get lost jerk.
