“Here’s the bottom line: if we, as Americans, especially *conservative* Americans, run up the white flag regarding 0bama’s Constitutional eligibility to serve as President, you can be sure that we will be held accountable by future generations who will shake their heads while they slave away in a latter day Sovietesque gulag, asking themselves “why did our ancestors give up?” “

No person has EVER stated it better.

“Here, an Arturo Fuente Gran Reserve hand picked from my box just for you.”

One thing I miss about Asia was the “cigar bars” usually Alfred Dunhill Ltd. You and a pal could go in buy one from a choice of maybe 200 cigars, and order a Carlsberg draft, or a cognac of choice. I wish they had that here.

“If the Republicans want power back, they better show that they’re actually worthy of being granted power rather than acting like they’re entitled to it, simply because they’re not the Democrats. “

I don’t think the following will work too well :

” Yes, I’m for”comprehensive immigration reform” amnesty with chain migration), and maybe cap n trade, but I’m not a Democrat”

Re: Cigars

I’m afraid the limits of my cigar prowess consist of having enjoyed a few wooden tipped ‘Hav-A-Tampas’ back in the 70’s, lol

I liked former Congressman Duncan Hunter's approach, which was to enforce the law, and send illegals back to their home countries, telling them that if they want to visit OR work in America, to do it legally or don't bother.

The Eisenhower Administration had immense success with 'Operation Wetback' and there is no reason that approach would not work today, if there was the political will to make it work.

Please tell me I'm misunderstanding something, here.

Oh for crying out loud!!
I remember seeing the first showing of that one. Was an ABC made for TV Movie starring a then unknown Dennis Weaver. LOL!!

Look, two of the old man's Darts were 225s and maybe that rickety ol' rig w/could catch 'em, who knows. It did in Hollyweird, but... :o)

The 340 wedge w/ the 727 OTOH, no way Jose'.
That car flew, was a real rocketship.

Until the neighborhood cop came over one evening, told my old man he'd best get a handle on me else he was going to have lawyer fees. Never drove the car again from that point, forward.

Of course those were the days when IF a cop, neighbor, teacher, hell's bells ANYONE came & complained to my pa about me? It was simply understood I'd be in a world of hurt. And in that last instance? Walking. LOL

Oh I know all about those 340 Mopar engines, a good friend of mine laid his hands on an almost new (it was a demo) 1970 Duster 340 and for a bare bones muscle car, it had plenty of muscle.

I discovered years later that with a swap of the ‘K’ frame that it was actually possible to transplant a 440 into one of those Duster/Dart bodies and the only comparison I can think of would be a Saturn V on a roller skate, LOL

Regarding Dennis Weaver, I seem to remember that after ‘Duel’ aired on ABC way back then, that Chrysler sold more Darts and Valiants with the Slant Six the following week than they had sold in MONTHS, and why wouldn’t they? lol

I always wanted a 1970 Sport Fury but alas, was never able to procure one.

I think your old man must have known mine, because if I had pushed my luck too much further I would have been taking the shoe leather express too, lol

Was just about to sign-off, but can't, am COMPELLED to respond. Addicts, pathetic creatures, all. LOL

"Oh I know all about those 340 Mopar engines, a good friend of mine laid his hands on an almost new (it was a demo) 1970 Duster 340 and for a bare bones muscle car, it had plenty of muscle."

Yup, those cars and especially the '69 Dart had an amazing HP to weight ratio couple with fabulous weight transfer. The 3:23 was nice, but, wished it'd been a tad higher. Of course if it had been I'd have been dead long ago.

"I discovered years later that with a swap of the ‘K’ frame that it was actually possible to transplant a 440 into one of those Duster/Dart bodies and the only comparison I can think of would be a Saturn V on a roller skate, LOL"

Oh my not like "Mr. Norms'" 426 Darts, only the "Commando" 440 was --IMO-- a lot more reliable, drivable.

"Regarding Dennis Weaver, I seem to remember that after ‘Duel’ aired on ABC way back then, that Chrysler sold more Darts and Valiants with the Slant Six the following week than they had sold in MONTHS, and why wouldn’t they?"

HA!!
Kind of odd since I STH wouldn't want a car a tanker truck could've caught! LOL

"I always wanted a 1970 Sport Fury but alas, was never able to procure one."

My neighbor (~ a mile away) has one, MK. Yellow, a rag-top. Has a 383 w/ Torqueflite 727. I'm serious. Can't wait to run into him, tell him I met a guy who loves 'em. His head'll swell and that's alright, BIG Harley guy, his head can go any way it wants. ;^)

"I think your old man must have known mine, because if I had pushed my luck too much further I would have been taking the shoe leather express too, lol"

Yea, well there was a day when "no" meant no and as kids we disobeyed at our own peril.

If you're a "car guy"? I got a humdinger for my birthday, last March. Ask stephen. :^)

Have a great evening, y'hear?

Thanks Mr. L., the same to you and yours! :)

PS - You're absolutely right about 440s being more reliable, the 426 Hemi is an awesome motor but unless you pour the constant upkeep and maintenance into it that they demand, you'll regret it quickly.

The last car my GrandDad owned was a '63 Plymouth Fury, nothing fancy, just a 318 with automatic (w/push buttons) but he kept it spotless and it looked new even when it was 10 years old.

BTW, here's a URL for your neighbor with the Sport Fury:

I'm not saying birthers are stupid because some of the wolds greatest geniuses were kooks.

Howard Hughes was incredibly smart. but he wasn't playing with a full deck when he died.

Albert Einstein was a genius but he was also a wild eyed leftist who thought he could end war.

If I'm going to get behind and support someone with my time and money it'll be for folks like Sarah Palin, Michelle Bachman, Jim Demint, Mark Levin, and Rush Limbaugh who are actually trying to advance the conservative movement and win elections. I will not waist one dime on the crackpot legal trio of Taitz, Berg, and Kreep. And I will not listen to and boost the ratings of truther and Israel hater Alex Jones who is also a birther.

I'm not saying all birthers are truthers, but most truthers are birthers and I will not walk arm and arm with the likes of Alex Jones or any truther.

Hunter was my first choice for POTUS.

President Duncan Hunter is still a possibility, but it would require a herculean effort, and as much as I admire former Governor Sarah Palin, I firmly believe that Hunter holds an edge in the area of national security (26 years on the House Armed Services Committee, also serving as Chairman), but in my view, either Hunter or Palin would make a superb Commander-in-Chief, contrasted with the communist scumbag that is stinking up the Oval Office even now.
