It’s about anything posted on any internet site touting anything for which the poster has received compensation, but didn’t reveal that. Excessively meddlesome, and implies a lot of surveillance and investigation of possible connections between posters and a company, candidate, religious group, etc.

Eff the nanny-state. I can figure out for myself if a poster touting some product sounds like a paid shill or just an enthusiastic customer. And most blogs, forums, networking sites, etc, that matter will have their own internal systems for handling that sort of thing. People who show up on FR just to tout a product or to endlessly repeat talking points for some political campaign get ejected by the management without any help from the FTC.
