The Racers

For the sake of convenience, I’ve decided to call people like Maureen Dowd, who see hidden racism in every complaint about Obama, “racers.”

If I could sum up the underpinnings of their position, it would be a riff on Descartes’s proof of existence: “I think, therefore I am.” For racers, it goes something like this: “I think it, therefore it is.”

Such thoughts don’t require logic or evidence—just a gut feeling, a hunch, and to racers that makes them real. To understand the extent of the racers’ projections, and read how much they demonize those on the Right, you need only wade through the comments section of the Dowd piece. I’ll just offer one fairly typical example to give you the flavor of what I’m talking about:

All you have to do is look at the photographs of the people at the protest Saturday in Washington and at the ones showing up to scream at town hall meetings. They look like the wild-eyed crazies that showed up to throw tomatoes at black children trying to go to integrated schools in Little Rock in the 1950s. It’s the same bunch. They can’t stand black people and they’d rather burst their own blood vessals and scream until their veins bloat out of their necks than get used to the fact that it is the 21st century. From their attitudes to their hairdos, everything about them screams 1950s racists.

The hairdo theory of racism—heaven help us.

It’s an odd thing, isn’t it? With the election of Barack Obama, many of us (I include myself among them) thought for one brief shining moment that race relations in this country would improve. But it turns out that if racism really ceased to exist (which of course it has not), racers would have to invent it. With the precipitous decline of overt racism against black people, racers must imagine covert racism everywhere to take up the slack.

TOPICS: Conspiracy; Government; Politics; Society
KEYWORDS: agenda; democrats; liberalfascism; obama; racecard; racer; racism; racist
Racer.

I believe we should be pushing this term. It succienctly describes what the left is trying to do. Not root out racism, but use the accusation to demonize their opponents.

I think a good break with the mainstream is that the Congress needs to have a White Caucus.... I’m now a racer. Glad it was a WHITE woman on this 4th Acorn video cam, NOW can I please be against ACORN because it’s not JUST color, but corruption in agencies getting gub’mint money?

“I think a good break with the mainstream is that the Congress needs to have a White Caucus.... I’m now a racer.”

No, that would make you a racist.

“Glad it was a WHITE woman on this 4th Acorn video cam, NOW can I please be against ACORN because it’s not JUST color, but corruption in agencies getting gub’mint money?”

The person accusing you of being a racists because ACORN is just about color is the racer.

Do you see the difference?

People like Jesse Jackson, that can get involved in any situation and make it about race are racers.

The people trying to paint the tea party protesters as racist because the protesters disagree with Obama’s policy are racers.

They have always been racists and always will be racists.

Not all RACErs are racists. Some are simply ideological leftists who use the accusation of racism as a weapon.

That is the difference between a racist who hates because of color of skin and a RACEr who uses the accusation of racism as a weapon whether or not they or their victims are racists or not.

I knew whan Obama was elected it would set back race relations by years.

Black people who are elected to big political jobs bring with them a feeling that the black race has been picked on for years, and that it is their duty to set all of this straight in the short term of their election.

They try for a bridge too far and destroy their agenda and their credibility. They reveal themselves as what they hate, Racists.

A racist such as Obama has far too many problems in his background and not near enough intelligence to bring about substantial change. He will leave only memories of an inept Presidency. His platform is payback ,not building for a strong America.

I disagree.

They are not being racists. I doubt they could care less about any actual racism. What they are doing is using the term to divert the discussion. Imagine having a discussion with your spouse about finances, and they say “You’re an idiot.” You reply “I’m not an idot.” “Yes you are.” “No I’m not, I have a college degree.” “You’re still and idiot.”

What happened to the discussion about finances? Totally gone. The discussion was diverted to arguing about whether you are an idiot.

We’re trying to have a debate over health care. Suddenly someone says “You’re a racists.” “No I’m not.” “Yes you are, you just can’t stand a black man being president.” “I could care less about his color.” “Bull, you’re a racists.” etc...

What happened to the health care debate? They rerouted it into one about race. The don’t care about the race issue, they just want to sidetrack the debate.

Try another scenario:

We’re trying to have a debate over health care. Suddenly someone says “You’re a racists.” “You’re a racer trying to use race as an excuse to sidetrack this debate. Let’s stay on track and talk about health care.”

Suddenly, you have a comeback that isn’t defensive (they want to put you in a defensive posture, because they can use that to sidetrack the debate.) You have an offensive comeback. You can accuse them of being a racer, put them back on the defensive, which will allow you to put the debate back on track.
