Now THAT is what I call bipartisan!
Monday evening, the Senate approved a measure sponsored by Senator Mike Johanns (R-NE) that would block ACORN from receiving grants for mortgage counseling, Community Development Block Grants, the Neighborhood Stabilization Program, and other programs.
Such a provision is not included in the House version of the housing bill, so it will not become law unless House negotiators approve of the change to the bill in conference.
With ACORN under fire for enabling child prostitution, tax cheating, voter registration fraud and embezzlement it's about time Congress started to bar the group from collecting federal funds. ACORN has recieved $53 million in taxpayer funds. Under the similus bill ACORN is eligible for grants totaling billions of dollars.

Then, when no one is looking, a committee will give them a couple billion to tide them over...
But does the ban apply to Community Organizers International (ACORN’s new name)?
So, when does the House get their chance to slice and dice this legislation?
The Socialist Bernard Sanders voted against this. As did Dick Durbin and Leaky Lahey.
They need to speak up in the media as to WHY they continue to supporting giving taxdollars to a criminal enterprise.
...until they make a formal name change so they can collect the full amount again.
There, finished it.
America’s tax-payer funded criminal enterprise.
yea yea yea ... waiting for them to defund ACORN completely and dethrone their king Obama
Not Voting - 9 Burr (R-NC) Graham (R-SC) McCain (R-AZ) Byrd (D-WV) Gregg (R-NH) Mikulski (D-MD) Coburn (R-OK) Hutchison (R-TX) Vitter (R-LA)
Pelosi won’t let this pass.
Hmm, very uncharacteristic of Vitter. Was he present for the vote?
You simply don’t understand ACORN, Fuji! Fortunately, a few circumspect souls, such as my hometown Pa. Senator Robert Casey Jr, know that everyone must be able to earn a living, even pimps and 13 yr. old Salvadoran prostitutes. Where is your compassion? And while we are talking about Casey, it is NOT true that the Senate lost an one average IQ point when he relaced Rick Santorum. It’s a bit more, truthfully. Bob
87+3=90. I presume 9 senators did not vote (Teddy being dead and whatnot)? McLame, according to a comment at the linked article, was one of the DNVers. Who else should not be reelected at the end of their term?
Burr (R-NC) Graham (R-SC) McCain (R-AZ)
Byrd (D-WV) Gregg (R-NH) Mikulski (D-MD)
Coburn (R-OK) Hutchison (R-TX) Vitter (R-LA)
Oopsie daisy! I really should read all the responses before posting... THANKS!
