Where do AP, ABC, NBC, CNN, and FOX get their DC912 crowd estimates from?
IMO The same place I do. And I say 2.5 million. Based on anecdotal twitter feed and the same camera shots everybody has seen. In other words a rough guess, but not uninformed.
True science requires that method and data both be described, so that the result can be validated.
You are wrong.
Sorry, ain’t buying it. A major news organization could have obtained clearance if they were willing to jump through the hoops. It’s a weekend and they weren’t.
I did see a story about three Uigurs looking for a new home, possibly in Trinidad
Yo, Washington DC is not Knoxville, TN or anyplace else. NO aircraft are allowed overhead, except military. When you see a helicopter in DC, it’s the USMC. Private aircraft are not allowed, except with permit, within something like 30 miles of DC. There was that little thing on 9-11-01 that changed all the rules.
tens of thousands is most of what i am seeing. what a farce.
I understand that when Obama returned from his strategic retreat, er make that speech, in Minnesota, Marine One went over the still large remnants of the crowd. I hope those below waved at the 'high one'!
I guess that settles that.
Don't you think it's somewhat interesting, though, that the number I estimated is very close to what the fire department estimated? Is the fire department in on the conspiracy with the media to deflate the numbers?
I was there and deliberately walked around the whole rally area to try to get a sense of how many people were there. I also found high spots where I could see the whole crowd gathered in front of the capitol. It seemed to me to be similar to the size of the crowd in a large football stadium.
I'm aware that everyone - especially the organizers and those traveling from far away - is pumped up about this and wants to feel like they participated in an event of historic proportions. Well, we should be proud because it was undeniably a big success; however, anyone thinking it was anywhere close to 1.5m is fooling himself.
Do you mean that most of the media is reporting tens of thousands?
I returned from the march yesterday evening, when Julie Banderas went on Fox and spoke of ‘tens of thousands.’ I was screaming at her!! Fox has stayed with that throughout. No one can look at those pictures and give that kind of estimate.
And, the estimates don’t count for people who weren’t on the Mall/Capitol grounds. There were significant crowds walking up and down both Pennsylvania Avenue and Constitution Avenue all day. People were coming and going. For instance, my husband and I didn’t arrive till around 1p, when we met a group at the Metro who’d been there since 8a and were leaving. Bless their hearts, they gave us their signs!
No one can ever get a real headcount, but ‘tens of thousands’ doesn’t cut it.
One thing is for damned sure: they cannot get an equivalent between yesterday and the Inauguration by trash count. When we were leaving from the Capitol grounds, after most of the crowd had already dispersed, there was NO trash to be found, except at trash cans. That alone was remarkable and spoke so well to those who attended.
Washington can not handle 2 million, or 1.5 million, so stop giving the libs ammunition to say you are loons with your claims.
And NO official agency of the DC or federal government gives estimates. Ever. Not since the Farrakhan March. Any comment based on such is patently false.
The actual number was 242,398. That number does not include 37 media and 412 police.
That number can’t be disproved.
The Mall is a prohibited flying area. Even the police can’t fly there without special event permission.
No news service would be allowed anywhere within that area.
Hey, tell me where I can see some of those camera shots. Thanks!
Look at the first picture on this page.
More than 70K.

Maybe Obama’s FAA denied flight access?
I have similar experience with crowds. Probably more so in DC, I’m local. I’ve seen firsthand some moonbat rallies that have been reported as “near 1 million” people. This was easily more. More than MMM too. I walked around the whole joint as you did. I think the 1.5 million number is overly optimistic, and 70K is overly pessimistic. Plus the non-static nature of the march, the dispersement, people coming and going, etc. My estimate is no less than a couple hundred thousand.
Thanks for the link. Great picture. It is indeed a large crowd. I don’t deny that. To put things in perspective, though, Philadelphia has a population of 1.5m people. Would anybody reasonably believe that the number of people in that photo comes anywhere close to being equal to the entire population of Philadelphia?
I bet if it were the “ 100 Black Men March” there would be every available reporter, tv camera crews galore and a front page story on all liberal news media everywhere.
Mostly they pulled them out of their a**.
