Anti-Mark Kirk Efforts Begin (Illinois)
Publius Forum ^ | 09/05/09 | Warner Todd Huston

Republicans United Against Mark Kirk for US Senate, a blog to chronicle Representative Mark Kirk's record by folks not very happy with his record has been set up to argue against his candidacy.

According to the opening main statement, the blog is set up to reveal Kirk's "departure from the GOP's state and national platforms."

This blog is a response to US Rep. Mark Kirk's bid for the US Senate seat from Illinois. It will reveal Mark Kirk's voting record as a member of the US House of Reps. and address Kirk's departure from the GOP's state and national platforms. This site will provide a venue for Illinois voters to express their opinions on not only Kirk, but others who will be on the GOP's primary ballot in 2010. Read letters to the editor, articles and commentaries regarding Kirk's position on the issues.

Kirk's Cap and Trade vote really set off a firestorm of anti-Kirk sentiment out there, it seems.

The blog was started by one Jay Cleary who told RFFM.org's Daniel T. Zanoza that he got the idea from one of Zanoza's editorials.

That depends. No one has ever lost an election betting against the intelligence of the Illinois voters.

I submit as evidence:

Rod Blago
Dick Durbin
Barack Obama.

Need I say more?

Kirk is an embarassment. There are other good candidates we don’t need Kirk to win in Illinois. The current political environment favors conservatives. This guy is pro homo pro abortion pro cap n trade. Tell me how electing him does anything for republicans ? It isn’t even that the guy is fiscally conservative.

>> Mark Kirk is a RINO bastard and would fit right in with the 25 or so GOP liberal RINO bastards already in the Senate. <<

Agree with the first part of your sentence, but I have to disagree with the second part. As Fieldmarshaldj said, Kirk is so liberal he makes Chuck Percy look like Jesse Helms. Kirk supports wacky extremist stuff like partial birth abortion (and gloats about it!) when even a lot of Dems won't be caught dead defending it. Kirk has been moving steadily leftward the last couple of years and his current "conservative" ratings are so bad that he's to the left of EVERY Senate Republican except the ultra liberal Maine twins. He's currently in Arlen Specter Republican territory (and we know what happened to Specter), if he drifts any further left as a statewide official he'll be in Linc Chafee territory. McCain is certainly no reliable conservative, but to give an idea how bad Kirk is, McCain's conservative ratings are TWICE as high.

I live in Kirk’s district, and I agree with you. He says that he opposes all congressional earmarks, but he ensured that the federal government spent at least $5 million, each, in our district, for HUD, Headstart, commuter trains, and local police depts. He’s a hypocrite and a liar.

He’s the long lost brother of Susie and Lympy.

They can found a Senate infanticide caucus together.
