The president is addressing kids. Big deal. I can remember Gerald Ford asking kids to tell their parents to turn off the lights when we left a room because we all needed to conserve energy or something. We were all supposed to write letters to the president telling him what we were going to do about this. I wrote one. Got a reply, even! It wasnt from Ford himself, but from some dunderhead who worked for him. Said dunderhead probably sent the same letter to millions of kids.
It took me years to figure that out, though. I thought the guy sat down and wrote this letter especially to me. I was pretty pumped. Somehow it didnt prevent me from deciding, years later, that Ford was a pretty mediocre president even though youre not supposed to think that where I live.

Woo Hoo!! Excusable day OFF from school!!!!!!
I don’t think you would be so accepting of President Bush doing what caliph bammy is doing if he had planned to ask American children to talk to mommy and daddy or daddy and daddy or mommy and mommy or Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice to support the war. You would have screamed your pointy little head off.
No child of mine would attend school that day (if they had the misfortune of being public schooled) and saints preserve anyone who gave my kids any grief for not being there.
ASK NOT what you can do for your country.
ASK INSTEAD what you can do for President 0bama.
This is so insightful! This is exactly why parents choose to home school their children.

Charlotte Iserbyt served as Senior Policy Advisor in the Office of Educational Research and Improvement (OERI), U.S. Department of Education, during the first Reagan Administration, where she first blew the whistle on a major technology initiative which would control curriculum in Americas classrooms.

Some crackpot group of writers from Michigan are going to try and give me advice? Take off, hosers.
How do you know what he is going to say? Has the speech been released?
He did. In 1989.
If zero actually talked to the kids and praised THEM for being in school and for not doing drugs, and for respecting their parents and loving their country, this would be no problem. But the jack ass and his troupe are attempting to brain wash the kids with their BHO love-in and sing-alongs about how great HE is.
His ratings are taking a nose-dive so he’s cultivating his own “narcissistic supply”. As his popularity sinks, things are going to get a lot worse. A control freak in the midst of losing control is dangerous and unpredictable.
Gerald Ford was asking kids to support the Country, and not directly to school children with little to no parental knowledge about what was going on. Bambi as going to ask the little mush-minds to think of ways that they can support him, obama.
Oh, Bush Sr. spoke to the schools about drug abuse. Well, I don’t think that the address was broadcast in my daughter’s high school in CA. If it was, there was not school follow up or class assignments to go along with it.
Just imagine if Bush had tried to speak to the kids about the opportunities that are offered through the military, telling the kids to stay in school and graduate so that they can “be all that they can be”. Then had the schools do follow up work, and started with an address to the grade school kids. Heads would be spinning on the left.
By the way, I am told by our local “Peace and Justice” crowd that it was Rumsfeld that inserted the language into the NCLB to require schools to allow military recruiters access to the students.
Your p.s. is an excellent point! Nobama wouldn’t dare let his kids be exposed to an hour of conservative free-market perspective. And I won’t let my kids be exposed to Nobama next week.
The speech has not been released. His last speech to school kids, “I Pledge,” is available, as is the worksheets and teacher guides for the CURRENT SPEECH. The worksheets have now been withdrawn, but the speech, has not. Below is an interesting article, link, which links to other gov. websites concerning the speech. And here’s a quote from it: “Coming on the heels of the celebrity-filled video made earlier this year titled, I Pledge, many parents are unwilling to send their children to school for fear of what their children will be asked to pledge to President Obama. In this video, while many beautiful promises and goals are outlined to take care of the community, neighbors and the planet, it also includes the statement, I pledge to be of service to Barack Obama and wraps up with, Whats your pledge? and I pledge to be a servant to our President and to all mankind. http://www.examiner.com/x-9332-Louisville-Christian-Examiner~y2009m9d3-Parents-boycott-Obama-on-September-8th-video
Oh, really? When exactly was that? One what day and time did George Bush have a live feed into every single classroom in the country to talk about drugs? And could you please provide me a copy of the Department of Education’s lesson plan distributed to all the schools for that occasion?
Thanks.
His father. Do a google search.
Friggin “Stay still in this pot while it’s heating to boil, you dumb a$$ frog!” stuff. Words of such bozos should be ignored.
All in all it’s just another brick in the wall.
Hey! Fascists! Leave our kids alone.....
