Well, I think I am just going to quit my job. I work social services. The pay is not bad. It's a secure job. I will never be fired,, but I just cannot take it anymore. It is an insane line of work. The entire department should be illuminated and all the money sent back to the tax payers.

I have been looking for another job for the past 4-5 months and have not found anything as of yet. My plan is to go back and substitute in the schools, continue looking for something permanent and also paint more. (I do realism,, just starting out) It will be a big risk. I have a little savings that would get us through for a few months, and I think I would be busy substituting,,, but it would be a pay cut and it would be a big risk. Never did anything like this before. I just cannot take this social services job. I goes against everything I believe in. When I started it over 7 years ago (this particular job, I have worked in social services much longer) I had a good attitude. Now,, I am miserable. Well, so like a good modern tech savvy guy,,, I throw all of this personal stuff out to the internet for your consumption and enjoyment.

If you got another one, nope. If you don’t, yep. NEVER create negative cash flow during a recession. You can do anything for a couple of months. Hang in there.

If it were any other period of time in recent American history, I'd say "go for it." But because our country is imploding -- and is only going to get worse -- I advise you to stick it out for now BUT spend every spare minute (a) developing alternate income streams, (b) searching harder for another line of work, or (c) both.

I am miserable. Go for it, quit your job and be even more miserable.
Someday perhaps you will experience real suffrage and understand.

Anyone who has a government job is crazy to “quit”. If you really want out, retire, take a leave, go on disability, go part-time or flex time...just don't quit.

With U6 unemployement at 16% I would not quit any job without another full time gig already lined up. A lot of people are hurting for work so man up and stay there till you find something you like to do.

Great! Now you can hang out on the intersection of Haight and Ashbury. Never quit a job unless you have another one lined up or your Powerball numbers came up.

Do you have a family? Children? If you do, think before you quit.

Take some vacation time and just step away for awhile. Even better if they let you take a sabbatical do that. Then make a decision when you're not so stressed.

You work for the government? If so, why not exercise a bit of prudence and patience for the sake of family and career and post out to something else? There should be tons of opportunities in such a mammoth organization. Take it from experience, it's always easier to get a job when you bargain from a position of power, i.e. current employment. Don't leave! We need conservative plants on the inside!!
