Three weeks from now will be the eighth anniversary of that horrible day that the world changed; September 11, 2001. And it it clear by the actions of our government that they want the citizens of the US to forget what happened in NY and Pennsylvania and the Pentagon that day.
President Barack Obama is asking Americans to volunteer on Sept. 11, making this year's anniversary of the terror attacks the first National Day of Service and Remembrance, organizers announced Thursday.
"Our ultimate goal is to leave a positive legacy that honors the victims and those who rose in service," said David Paine, the president of MyGoodDeed, one of the organizations responsible for the event.
"We hope to rekindle the spirit of unity and compassion that followed the terrorist attacks," he told a news conference near the site of the World Trade Center.
Paine joined other members of the 9/11 community to unveil a national campaign to build support for the privately funded effort. They urged volunteers to use a Web site launched Thursday that shares service projects and opportunities throughout the country.
Volunteers may choose any kind of activity, from working in a Harlem community garden and mentoring school children to performing music.
A national day of service may very well be an appropriate way to celebrate 9/11. Especially if it was service in a way that promotes freedom and liberty. But the president and his flock is talking about using the day to talk about promoting green jobs and other things in the POTUS agenda. This politicization blurs the importance of remembering what happened on that day.

And the notion that 9/11 changed the world is incorrect. Muslim terrorists have been attacking Americans using every means available to them since 1785. 9/11 was just a showing of what they could do with 4 airliners.
Obummer and his administration is forcibly bringing the country back to a pre 9/11 mindset when everything was sweetness and light.
Kumbaya.
While the forces of evil and darkness were hiding and gathering in the shadows to strike us at our most vulnerable areas.
There is no other word to describe them but traitors to the United States of America and everything our country has always stood for.
“Do Obama and Congress Want You To Forget 9/11?”
If they Do, they’re in for a MAJOR disappointment!
"Where it's nine-eleven all the time
and no Sun sets, and no clocks chime
where no voice speaks and no bird trills
the Moon hangs frozen o'er the hills
The winds are still, they seem to say,
Reflect, remember, stop to pray..."
( Note, and note well...
...that "plume of steam" you see to the right of the Twin Towers is the mushroom cloud thrown up from the crash of Flight 93...
Never Forgive,
Never Forget... )
I didn’t know that thread existed. Thank you.
Your money, my money...your freedom, my freedom...your mind, my mind.....your life, my life.....
These are the things this administration covets.
Thanks for looking.
This current batch of liberals are elitist scum.
They make Republicans look like cheapskates.
Remember that the next time people tell you that the Republicans are the party of the rich.
A Democrat without such only has an EBT to show for his loyalty.......
Most liberals are hedonists.
Hedonists = degenerates.
Guess that means they have the child molestor vote down solid.
Guess that means they have the child molestor vote down solid.
The press will try to play down 9/11 ... or they’ll “rewrite” it’s reality.
Will the New York Times do a special on Muslims being discriminated against for their 9/11 remembrance?
Or a hate piece against Israel?
Or a hit piece against conservatives?
Or maybe a condemnation of the CIA who protected us during the dark days after the attack? Or maybe the Times and Washington Post will do an envious attack on the widows of the attack.
Any thing - absolutely anything - other than remember the day as it was - a day more Americans died in an attack on our homeland than any other day in our history. A day we were attacked by Muslim extremest. A day more people died than at Pearl Harbor... the truth. The New York Times will write anything EXCEPT the truth.
Sounds like the run-up to another National Paid Day Off for union folks and gubmint workers
It should be a day of mourning and this year a day of protesting against this administration & congress.
I cant imagine what instructons they will give in the elementary & middle schools in regards to this presidential declaration of 911 as a day to volunteer. My youngest is in high school, they wouldnt get this past him. He knows it is a day of national mouring and he would probably even disagree with me about using the day this year (only) to protest. (Civily, peacefully & silently- to represent those no longer here to voice an opinion).
We made a national promise on 9/11 never to forget those that died that horrible day.
That promise was made to the honored dead and therefore it is a promise that must be solemnly kept.
It is the same promise that we make to all of our military veterans, past, present and future.
That their sacrifice will always be honored, respected and remembered.
The Islamists tried to "Green the Block" in NYC. I hope that in a few years we'll see some progress on reconstruction.
