Here is a video report on the controversy over whether South African teenager Caster Semenya is actually a female - important because she just won the Gold Medal for the 800-meter World Championship race in Berlin. She won the race by a massive 2.5 seconds. A "gender test" has been ordered. At the end of the video, Semenya was asked directly about the accusation she was "born a man":
"The South African teenager caught up in the gender-test flap has received her gold medal for winning the 800-meter win at the world championships.
Caster Semenya won by a huge margin Wednesday despite revelations that the world track body asked her to undergo gender testing.
When asked while walking into the medal ceremony how she was feeling, Semenya smiled and said, "Good, man." . . . (Watch Video)

Most people can tell what sex a dog is just by a discreet glance.
He/she “don’t give a damn about it”.
Rachel Maddow is next

Implicit in that assumption is that this isn’t a male that has been surgically altered.
A bar body test for a shut down second X chromosome is the appropriate test to see if someone is (genetically) female.
Sadly enough, there are some medical conditions which could mean that she has female genitalia, but is chromosonally a male.
When “she” was in school, “she” wore a boy’s uniform the entire time.
guilty on all counts
I am reminded of a line from Austn Powers, “Its a man, man.”
From all outward appearances, there’s nothing female about Ms. Castor Semenya. I’m not all that up on naming conventions in South Africa, either, but Castor doesn’t sound at all feminine. Given names in any culuture usually have some hint of gender about them, and “Castor” sounds male.
Yep - that’s a man dude...
If this woman was born with female anatomy, then she’s female.
Since she beat the competition so easily, testing for performance enhancement drugs or trying to determine that she really was born with female anatomy might be warranted. But, if she clears the drug tests and was born with female anatomy, it shouldn’t matter what the genetic testing says.
Now that would seem like a lot of trouble to go thru just to win some races..

They instituted sex testing in the Olympics after the East German “women” had a particularly STRONG showing.
The person in question may have had other reasons as well for getting altered.
My point is that a DNA test from a cheek swab is what is needed to settle the matter, not having the person drop trow.
I can hear it now, "but she's a woman in a man's body!"
That's a dude!
Yes, I thought the same thing about “Castor” being a boy’s name because of it ending with “or.” Here is a link to baby names and it says it is a boy’s name. Other name sites also list it as a boy’s name. I’ve seen none that list it as a girl’s.
Physical appearances aside, did you listen to the video? He is so a male. The voice is not only deep but the intonation is male. Males usually end sentences on a lower note than what they began the sentence on. Females usually end on a higher note and what they began the sentence on.

I have yet to hear of a case where a ‘born a woman’ woman athlete fails a barr body test. If there is an example out there FReepers, please enlighten me.
Examples of people born “female” but who would fail a barr body test to establish that they are a woman.
XY- individual with defective testosterone receptors. These (genetically male) individuals appear female (no testosterone effect), have no secondary body hair (no testosterone effect), have abnormally large breasts, and are slightly mentally retarded. They are not going to compete successfully with women athletes (who depend upon low levels of testosterone for proper muscle development).
X0- “turner syndrome” individuals with only one X chromosome develop as female, but have a host of physical problems. Not a likely candidate for your female sports champion.
As far as ambiguous genitalia, I don't know what to say.
The reason why men and women's sports are separate is because men are larger and stronger with more endurance; and this is primarily due to testosterone.
If the ambiguous individual has a higher testosterone level than most females then letting them compete against women is unfair.
The answer is plastered all over his/her chest, ya!
