Full disclosure: I have written a blog for the last 5 or 6 years -- and (if I do say so myself) it's not bad. In all that time, though, I've never once seen fit to link to one of my posts here. That'd be tacky and not befitting the purpose of this site.
But, there are more than several Freepers who use FR continually as a vehicle for getting hits on their blogs instead of simply linking to the article they've ripped off and riffed on. It's getting tiresome and it just clogs up the works with postings that might make a decent comment instead.
This is supposed to be a site for the exchange of ideas and not a vehicle for self-promotion. I'm sorely tempted to mention a couple of them, but we all know who they are. I skip every post by each one of them.
Damn, it's annoying and thank you for entertaining my rant. Normal programming will now resume.
Please name names. That way I will know to ignore them as well.

You should at least post a link to it in your personal about you section of Free Republic so we can read it. until now, I didn’t know you had a Blog.
I couldn’t agree with you more. The Blog Pimps should just put it into their profile or NO more than their tagline.
Can’t stand them putting two sentences up and then click to the link and there is a single stupid paragraph they think is soooo enlightening...
If a person’s blog is any good, it will get the traffic...

That’s a LITTLE snarky, at the end there, but good point overall...I am seeing more and more spamming and self promotion, too and do not like it...if anything it makes me want to duck them and their opinions...I will not go to their blogs because of it...so, you made a good choice to pass on the self promotion...until now ;^)

The ones that REALLY get my goat are the ones that don’t even bother to stick a link to FR on their sites. ‘specially when they come here during a FReepathon.....

All social sites like this is determined by the community and what the community determines to be the type of content they want. As the media becomes more and more Web 3.0 focused, you’ll see a move away from traditional sources and towards user generated content. The community here will determine by support or ignoring, what it wants for content. Embrace the evolution.
