OBAMA SECRET SERVICE Pulls Guns On Conservative Tea Party Protesters In Bristol

This came in the email after Dear Leader's town hall event on Obamacare in Bristol, Virginia:

Hey Gateway Pundit.

I attended the town hall event in Bristol,VA today. Though very few were allowed inside, there was an amazing turnout outside of people protest healthcare reform, among other things. I hope to send you pictures soon of some great signs I saw. It was expected that those in opposition to the bill would outnumber those in favor by 10-1, but I feel it was much, much more.

I do have a question I was hoping you could answer. During the motorcade when the president was arriving, there were several vehicles following the limo that contained the secret service. All of the vehicles had all the windows rolled down, and back hatch open on the SUVs with the men holding their, I assume assault rifes, machine guns, drawn on everyone lining the streets. Needless to say it took my breath away at the sight of them, and made my friends and I dizzy with fear. I have seen the secret service before, but never like this. While they were intimidating, I never felt in danger. The guns were not drawn when the motorcade was leaving the event. But I turned on a local talk radio program as we were leaving and all the calls were about witnessing the guns being pointed at them and nothing else until the end of the program.

Having said all that, my question is, is this normal protocol during such an event? It very well could be, but after I had to get over the shock of it, I began to feel offended. We were all there peaceful, and have no problems with Obama the man,

Absolutely! Don't forget, Obama is a racist, and I have no doubt he believes millions of white men are intent upon assassinating him. Paranoia without a doubt.

my point is that PERHAPS the SS detail was operating in the manner in which i described. but the author, not having experience in these types of operations, was surprised that there were exposed weapons in the presidential motorcade.

people's eyes get real big when they see stuff like that. we have a small team of fully outfitted ESU cops (SWAT team) literally standing on Wall St. every weekday outside the stock exchange.

you can imagine the reaction of the tourists, while the stock brokers just stroll on by not even noticing anymore. it's all a matter of perspective as i am sure you are aware.

The agents IN presidential motorcades have never openly carried weapons (and definitely never pointed them at crowds) as far back as I can remember.

I've seen exactly that many times, guns visible in the Secret Service SUVs. I've also seen it when it wasn't the POTUS being protected (foreign diplomats). It is a fairly common sight in NYC.

I have been near President Bush, VP Cheney (different occasion) various candidates for President and Vice President and have never seen the secret service with pulled weapons. There must have been something going on or the Little Dictator is simply paranoid as well.

btw...I was one of the 6,000 lay-offs thirty years ago. I didn't go back on like a lot of guys did. No regrets.

Kind of curious that we have this story on the heels of a previous story of the lead SS agent being fired for ostensibly complaining about certain comments being made.

Certainly there are a number of dots to connect, but .... a novelist could come up with a scenario that said that there was change of SS policy and someone didn’t want to go along, so he was shown the door.

Kind of things that make you go hmmmmm.

The only time I can remember seeing SS agents with their weapons drawn was after President Reagan was shot. I thought most of the time they try to keep a low profile and not draw attention to themselves. They are supposed to be watching you, not the other way around.

The times I have protested Clinton, no guns were shown. But there was a heavy police presence.

While we were protesting, a van ran the police cordon and had to be stopped. Scared the crap outa me. I can’t imagine what would have happened post-911.

not at all! i am usually on the defensive around here. i frequent the anti-cop threads and try to inject some sanity and usually end up being called a boot-licking thug. ha! (but i do chastise the truly bad cops)

while this was no such cop-bashing thread, i felt the need to talk about what i have seen. thanks for your service as well.
