When You're Too Nuts for Ann Coulter...[Certifigate: Free Republic mocked, of course]
Dispatches from the Culture Wars ^ | July 27, 2009 | Ed Brayton

Posted on 07/27/2009 8:26:15 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

How insane are the birthers? Ann Coulter thinks they're a bunch of cranks and said so on Fox News. Of course she blames it all on the liberal media rather than on the nuts who are still pushing it, because it can't be the fault of those on the right, liberals must be to blame for everything somehow. Video below the fold:

And naturally, the Freepers are losing their minds over Coulter's apostasy.

"Coulter has gone over to the dark side. Her dark roots are showing."

"Anne, you are losing it girl. In fact, I think you have already. There would be No issue if zero would show his Birth Certificate. Until then, stop drinking the dims koolaide"

"Ann Coulter is turning into another Peggy Noonan. It's very sad."

Except one guy who is convinced that Ann is so brilliant she's playing a strategic game with the issue:

"Ann is a strategist. You don't play your Spades first in a game of Spades. This birth certificate isssue is our Ace of Spades card. Sooner or later, the truth is going to come out. But it makes no sense to play it now, and I say this as someone who truly believes that Obama is not a natural-born U.S. citizen."

This is really becoming quite amusing to watch.

I wish the media people from the right, like Coulter, would show those questioning the birth certificate why they are wrong.,I agree. I think this is the risk of explaining it. By explaining it, she runs the possibility of rubbing the nose of those who are usually in harmony with what she writes or says. It's always better to allow your allies to maintain their mystic rather than outing their processes.

is acting Hussein-like; as Saddam did with the WMD’s.

You do see the irony in that statement, don't you?

Ann Coulter is about promoting Ann Coulter, nothing else. She knows that controversy sells her books and lands her speaking opportunities. If any of you are hanging your hat on Ann Coulter, you are setting yourself up for a fall.

Rather than “vet” the media, and I (sadly) include Coulter, would rather “fret” over who is raising the Birth Certificate question...than actually deal with the BC (and any ensuing, Constitutional fallout.

I (along with others) have been called a tin foiler, a kook, (thanks Ann) and now a “crank...” But have any of us seen any of the asked for (justifiably so) documents? No college transcripts; no writings from Harvard; no calendars from his I’ll Senate says; no legislation from his time as a US Senator...and everything (double top secracy style) starts back with the Birth Certificate—long form with Seal.

As I see it, all those who call themselves conservatives, who so easily dismiss CertificateGate are toting Dixie Cups, running along side the media carrying the big, heavy water buckets for Barry...catching the little slooshes..to keep everything running smoothly for The One.

I love Ann; she is a wonderful American. Yet I am a birther, and a proud one at that.

Foreign nationals, not having yet committed themselves and been naturalized into the rights and responsibilities of American citizenship, are ill-equipped to foster a sense of national pride, honor, and dignity for America into their offspring. They have not yet committed themselves to respecting and protecting the core principles and values upon which this mighty nation was founded hundreds of years ago. How could they possibly instill into their children what they are uncommitted to possessing themselves? They cannot.

The "natural born citizen" requirement is meant to be preservative of the society our Founders envisioned, a game plan that has resulted in *the* most successful empire in history. We the People, including Ann, ought to be grateful they possessed the foresight to include such protection and honor it. Mr. Obama is living prove of the rushed and radical changes toward socialism that can be driven by a man having little sense of national pride in the seat of our greatest power. Foreign nationals do not beget 'natural born citizens'. It is just that simple.

Ann can't know all things. And she has had her eye on other topics. I'm confident that if she took the time to do the research, she would immediately join the "birther" ranks. Until then, she will only see the "birth certificate issue" touted by the media. And, to be honest, if I thought this truly were only about a missing paper birth certificate, I'd tend to shy away from getting involved with the "birthers" too.

I did my research; I understand the ramifications of tossing the Founder's protections aside; I am a "birther".

What exactly does Obama have to gain by releasing any documents? A swath of GOP activists remain fixated on the BC issue, and it helps Obama in two ways. One, it takes away from time and effort which could be directed at more fruitful, dangerous political endeavors. Two, it makes it easy for the enemedia to paint non-Obama-bootlickers as either “raving nutters” or “deceitful xenophobes looking for any way to eject America’s first non-white president”.

I have a bit more than a suspicion that our intelligence services know where Obama was born, the circumstances of his birth, and the various legal ramifications of those circumstances - and they did nothing. The national security implications of allowing an illegitimate president to take office are profound, and it simply would not happen without our intel services being in on the scam. Now we are in “NASA faked the moon landing” and “9/11 was an inside job” territory (though, on the surface, any necessary shenanigans do not appear to necessitate such a grand-scale of subterfuge, unlike the latter two examples). The MSM did a terrible job vetting Obama, but the birth issue is not part of what they “missed”. It is part of what the TOTUS handlers want us to think was missed.

You want to know why Obama et al will simply not “release the BC and make the fuss go away?” Because they are benefiting from the “controversy”. At least until 2012, we are stuck with a president who manages somehow to be worse than Bush II.

I’m not going to make many friends on FR by saying any of this, and that is fine. The same country that sh** out Carter gave us Obama.

I love Ann.

And I still want to see his birth certificate and I still want to know what citizenship he claimed when he was in college.

He seems to be within his rights to refuse to answer me. And I’m within my rights to keep asking. He can keep refusing to answer, and that in itself speaks volumes.

I've been in the "there's more to this story" camp for a good while. I fully expected Obama to come out a week or two before the election and say "Here's the doc. Now, don't you all look stupid."

But, he didn't do that.

All this speculation could be easily stopped. He hasn't stopped it yet, and in fact, allowed a small ember of "Crazy Birthers" to get fanned into a fire. The deafening silence since his election is even more damning... We've not even gotten a "We released the docs so shaddap about it already" (sure, they were fake, but there are plenty floating around out there in the ether) statement to shut people up and make them go away. It's an unnecessary distraction that makes no sense to be allowed to continue.....unless the truth is worse than the distraction itself.

Just sayin'.

Personally, I think that BO is a legit president, but there's something politically damaging on the BC. Really, do you think that a mob of Room-Temp IQ voters would be swayed by arcane legal wrangling over whether BO was born overseas and emigrated to America a few weeks later? Or some other obscure (or even not-so-obscure) Constitutional or legal argument about nationality?

Nope, it's got to be something so simple that even the dumb masses can understand, and would toss BO out on his keister for doing....

Chair of the Democratic National Committee and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has filed an Affidavit certifying Obama as eligible to hold the Office of the President of the United States.

Not only that, Obama sworn an oath with his right hand raised and his left and on the Bible.

Why would any Republican or Independent question that?

seriously we can amuse ourselves all we want with this side issue but the fact of the matter is the birth certificate issue is in fact closed.

IN THE FUTURE all candidates will put their birth certificate out there for all to see, (except john mccain who still does not want to use joe the plumber because he felt sympathy for obama)

Obama’s approvals have to hit pelosi territory for this issue to even matter.

No, I don’t think our ever so PC Intel sources would permit an investigation into anything that would be perceived as ‘racist.’ I think GWB’s people let us down in that respect...and I think the Clintons and McCain did as well. No one wanted to (or wants to) do the heavy lifting and go after the “lack of traceable records” of The Transparent One. I think fingers get pointed around (Gee, I thought the Clintons would “use” it)...and we arrived at the brilliant plan of inserting the absolute “Manchrian Candidate” into the Presidency.

You know who could care less about “post racial” propaganda??? Try the minions of Putin...I bet they know what color nightgown Stanley Ann was wearing the morning of Obama’s birth.

Why would any politician of any political ideology who is in his right mind willingly hand his political opposition ANY piece of information that could potentially hurt him and help them?
The US Constitution in Article One/Section Two requires two pieces of information: Place of Birth and Date of Birth ONLY to verify Natural Born American status. Obama has produced a state of Hawaii certified document that lists his birth place as Honolulu, Hawaii and his date of birth as August 4, 1961. Until someone PROVES that document to be fraudulent or forged, it stands as having met the Constitutional requirement. Obama is under no legal obligation to produce any other document or piece of verifying information. The US Supreme Court has rejected (often without comment) every legal challenge presented to it thus far that asks for more information from Barack Obama.

People asking Obama to turn over such information are naive.
It is the job of a politician’s opposition to UNCOVER damaging information and they should not expect the politician to do their investigative work for them.

If you don’t like Obama’s lack of transparency, vote against him in 2012 and broadcast your displeasure loud and long in the interim to gain more support but don’t expect him to help you.

"So what’s the problem? The quotes are real are they not?"

Who knows? He didn't link to them, as you can see. Most of these types of articles link to the "offending" comments. Another thing: We have trolls here (some new, some sleepers) so everything should be taken with a grain of salt, don't you agree?

Here is a thought. Perhaps Ann is truly a birther....BUT...people like her have figured out that the best thing they can do is create doubt as opposed to all line up on the same side. If conservatives can just create doubt (some on each side of the argument), then the story will not die. If all conservatives are on the same side, they are all written off as kooks and there is no argument, then the story dies. Create doubt and question...and the story lives.

If Fukino knew Obama was natural-born, why not admit it from the beginning? It was probably because she didn't want to perjure herself but ended up the fall guy through who knows what means.

In the future, if the pressure subsides on this issue like you're likely proposing, candidates will never have to present proof of natural-born citizenship.

If there are any problems, then some Democrat stooge will stand up and vouch for the President and all will be well, except in terms of Constitutional legitimacy.
