Henry Louis Gates, professor of victimology, heads for Martha's Vineyard to lick his wounds
Telegraph Blogs (U.K.) ^ | July 26, 2009 | Stephanie Gutman

Because of its proximity to Harvard University, Boston and New York City, Martha’s Vineyard is the playground of certain kind of rich intellectual. The Clintons are regulars there, as is Alan Dershowitz. On the northeast side of the island is the charming neighbourhood of Oak Bluffs whose “big, sprawling homes with large yards and gorgeous architecture” (as one real estate website put it) are the summer home of “prominent African American leaders … famous black writers, politicians, judges and artists”, people like Spike Lee and Oprah Winfrey. President Obama summers here too.

It is here that Harvard Professor Henry Louis Gates will shortly repair to lick his wounds over what he calls his “deeply painful and traumatic” experience with a Cambridge police officer last week. He will work on a documentary, presumably for his regular venue, the taxpayer-subsidized Public Broadcasting Service, which he says will ask: “How are people treated when they are arrested? How does the criminal justice system work? How many black and brown men and poor white men are the victims of police officers who are carrying racist thoughts?”

You would think it would be getting harder to peddle this kind of victimology. Gates is a professor at one of the most elite universities in the country. For reasons that are unclear, he lives in a home owned by the university. (Is it a perk of his professorship; does he get a subsidized rental rate?) The white policeman who arrested him reported to a black police commissioner. Cambridge, Massachusetts is run by a black mayor (the second consecutive black mayor of the city), in a state with a black governor, in a country with a black president. Yet Gates will continue to make a living out of grievance.

And all he had to do was show the

So all the blacks on Martha's Vineyard live in the same neighborhood? Self-segregation?

Gates is patently guilty of racial profiling. He looked out his front door, saw a white police officer and immediately drew every conclusion he felt he needed to draw, and he hasn’t modified a single one of his conclusions since. Gates appears incapable capable of learning from experience. In other words he is a committed, irredeemable racist.

If he had looked out onto his porch and seen a black police officer, as it might have been, but for the intercession of random chance, do any of us have any doubt that the entire episode would have gone down VERY differently?

Gates couldn’t have used his racial epithets and threats, and would probably have not provoked a confrontational episode. The incident would likely not have resulted in an arrest, and would not have made the national news.

The only reason that this incident escalated is because Gates racially stereotyped the white police officer and then treated him, not as a human being, but as a token for all white men.

Gates’ actions are despicable, and his post incident utterances have been totally consistent with a desire to milk every racial droplet. Even his “acceptance” of Obama’s invitation to settle things over a beer with the offer, was accepted with the caveat that he would use it as a teaching example.

I’m sorry, but until Mr. Gates can admit that he has a thing or two to learn, he has no status to teach anyone anything about race.

“There is a class of colored people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs, and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs-partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs.”

- Booker T. Washington (1856-1915.)

So, the little darlings segregate themselves and then carry on about voluntary segregation at colleges and universities.

Rank hypocrisy as usual.

Has anyone noticed that the loudest and most virulent of prominent hate-whitey blacks seem to be very light skinned?

Prof. Gates, Rev. Wright, Louis Farrakhan, the late Khalid Muhammad, among others.

Wonder why that is?

‘Scofflaw’ Obama Grudge Against Cambridge Police?
Thursday, July 23, 2009 8:34 PM

One reason Barack Obama may have been so critical of the Cambridge Police Department is that he might have a grudge against the law enforcement agency.

Obama, who attended Harvard Law School from 1988 to 1991, lived in Cambridge and apparently didn’t like the fact he was frequently hit with parking tickets.

In all, Obama received 17 tickets for parking violations, and he did not pay 15 of them until a local newspaper exposed him as a scofflaw.

According to a 2007 Associated Press story, Obama was a parking ticket deadbeat for more than a decade — and felt the need to pay the 15 outstanding parking ticketsonly as his presidential campaign began in earnest in 2007.

Here is the Associated Press story detailing Obama’s negligence:

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama got more than an education when he attended Harvard Law School in the late 1980s. He also got a healthy stack of parking tickets, most of which he never paid.

The Illinois senator shelled out $375 in January — two weeks before he officially launched his presidential campaign — to finally pay for 15 outstanding parking tickets and their associated late fees.

The story was first reported Wednesday by The Somerville News.

Obama received 17 parking tickets in Cambridge between 1988 and 1991, mostly for parking in a bus stop, parking without a resident permit and failing to pay the meter, records from the Cambridge Traffic, Parking and Transportation office show.

He incurred $140 in fines and $260 in late fees in Cambridge in all, but he paid $25 for two of the tickets in February 1990.

Jen Psaki, a spokeswoman for the Obama campaign, dismissed the tickets as not relevant.

“He didn’t owe that much and what he did owe, he paid,” Psaki said on Wednesday. “Many people have parking tickets and late fees. All the parking tickets and late fees were paid in full.”
