Palin, Hunter, DeMint, or Pence? Who should be the 2012 nominee?
PA Times | 7/21/09 | Pissant

Posted on 07/21/2009 4:08:00 PM PDT by pissant

I have racked my brain to try to figure out who else should be included on the list of figures that conservatives should support and encourage to run for the 2012 GOP nomination.

Pawlenty? Milquetoast

Mitt? RomneyCare flipflopper

Barbour? Sabotaged eminent domain reform

Jindal? Needs to start shaving first.

Huck? playing his cards right, but can he be trusted?

Newt? Sybil

Perry? Mandatory vaccinations, anyone?

Sanford? Stepped on his John Thomas

However, if Palin, Hunter, DeMint and Pence were to be the choices, then we will have forced the GOP beyond the RINOfest that was 2008, which resulted in the predictable outcome.

Hunter gets my full support if he runs. DeMint is next, then Pence & Palin.

However, it would behoove us to discourage any attempt by the GOP moneymen to force feed us another Rudy McRomney Happy Meal for 2012.

Will talk radio get out in front this time and actively promote the conservative candidates?

I still haven't tuned back in to Hannity after his relentless efforts to convince me that black is white last go 'round.

Because Congressmen never win, I support Palin. DeMint may be a good choice for V.P.

Personally, I’m not big on nominating anyone from Congress or the Senate; too much policy and legislation and not enough executive experience.

The MSM has successfully defined Sarah Palin in the minds of the voting public. It is up to her to reverse this. A couple of hundred (or a couple of thousand) people screaming, “Go Sarah” on FR is not going to make a bit of difference.

“but the powers that run the GOP will have none of that nonsense. “

You know how to get around that nonsense don't you?
Follow the money. Make your political contributions to Gov Palin's PAC instead of to the idiot that is running the RNC right now. When Palin has most of the money, no one is going to push her around. Just look what 0bama did ti Hilary Clinton, on account of the vast amounts of money he raised. We are gonna need a huge amount of cash to beat Commander Zero in 2012. Better to start contributing to Palin PAC right now. As for the RNC, I wouldn't trust the RNC further than I can throw ‘em.

What about that Michelle Bachman babe for the VP spot. Every time I hear her interviewed, I want to stand up and cheer. I think she comes back at slick liberals more effectively than Palin does.

Too early for me to declare just yet but here are a few of my thoughts:

Pawlenty is too nice. I don't want a nice guy. We need someone willing to throw knock out punches on the issues. That may take care of a few others on your list, too. I like Pence and hope he starts getting "out there" more. I love Hunter. I don't think Newt can win. I've been trying to pay more attention to Ryan just to see what he is all about. I like Barber and DeMint but right now have my doubts on whether they can carry enough independents--I don't know--it's early. What I do know is we HAVE to defeat this guy in 2012.

I'd recommend Markel, Sarkosy, and Bibi for starters.

That would unhinge the left and Obama even more!

Would be grand to see too!

That’s not the way it usually works. The stars that come out of the woodwork are all dems, and they elect them too. Like Jimmuh, Slick, and the boy marxist.

Ike was a war hero, Nixon an old hand, Ford a lifer, Reagan a warhorse. There are no stars other than the ones I identified.

I love Michele. I can assure you she won’t run though.

The beatings will be between the various factions of supporters. That’s a given.

Not necessarily.

If we stay objective, there should be a minimum of that going on between the supporters of the 4 you listed.

I’ll wait and see with the 2010 fallout, but Pence would be my top pick of the four.

IMHO, an Adult is going to have to come and clean up this mess, especially an adult with some foreign affairs knowledge.

An adult with knowledge of how to get things done. There are certain things you need to do to make yourself a serious candidate, and Hunter failed to achieve these. Hunter might have good positions on issues (though I don't think his record is much better than the average Republcan on spending), but this isn't enough for a candidate for President. And many of the skills important to running a successful campaign are important--though obviously far from sufficient--to a successful presidency.

There are plenty of people with the correct positions on issues, and a number who have decent experience with those issues too, but we need someone capable of stepping up to the challenge of both getting elected and governing.

The Dems will vote for the weakest Republican candidates in the primaries and we’ll be left with squat again- unless there’s a landslide in the primaries for one candidate.

Heck yes!
Bibi would be just perfect.
Just perfect!
In fact Israel should be one of the first countries she visits. Bibi would just love to have her shown off in high profile settings, talking Mideast high politics. And ytou are right. That would send the left wing 0bamabots absolutely nuts. It would be such a pleasure to see that.

Remember when Romney pulled out of the primary, even though he seemed to have a fighting chance.

I think that’s because the RNC assured him it would be “his turn” in 2012.
