Now all he can tell us is that "unemployment tends to recover more slowly than other measures of economic activity." Yes, in mismanaged economies. Yes, when the engines of industry are being conducted by the likes of FDR, Jimmy Carter and now Barack Obama.
The problem is not the economy Obama inherited. The problem is the President's socialist plans which have combined to make a bad situation worse. Obama wants more time. There is nothing we can do to prevent him from doing what he will for the next 18 months. But we can't afford to give him any more after that. It is past time for Republican leadership to get a plan together to take back the House in 2010 and stop this train dead in its tracks before it runs us over...

Three months ago, Peoria, Ill.-based Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE:CAT) announced 20,000 job cuts among other restructuring measures. Just six months before that it was riding profits from sales of equipment as commodity prices soared and mining companies, among others, were demanding more products.
Now, the world's No. 1 construction equipment maker has posted its first quarterly loss in 17 years. As it lost $112 million for the quarter, Cat significantly cut its full-year earning and sales forecasts and said there could be more layoffs to come. Around the time Cat announced that initial round of job cuts, President Obama was announcing his stimulus plan, part of which addressed infrastructure. But Caterpillar doesn't think it's working.
Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE:CAT) is reportedly in talks with Indian manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. to create a joint venture. According to The Economic Times of India, the venture would make engines for Cat-branded tractors and would be 51% owned by M&M, a maker of automobiles and farm equipment.
