WASHINGTON — The House of Representatives paused for a moment of silence Friday to mark entertainer Michael Jackson's death.
Lawmakers briefly interrupted a debate on a global warming bill to stand in silence and honor the "King of Pop."
Rep. Diane Watson of California rose during the debate to suggest the House "pay tribute to the culture that he has left behind, his legacy."
Watson said the lawmakers send their condolences to Jackson's family, friends and his fans worldwide.
Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. of Illinois said the singer changed the world and he wants to "thank God for letting all of us live in his generation and in his era."

Agreed. Just confining the discussion to black musical singers/entertainers of the 20th century, Whacko Jacko doesn’t even come close to making the top tier. Essentially he was a good singer (especially as a kid), very good dancer (aside from his crotch-grabbing antics), and below average songwriter (at best).
He’s so far below the talents of guys like Satchmo, Ray Charles, King Cole, Sammy Davis Jr., James Brown (to name but a few) they shouldn’t even be mentioned in the same discussion. But the idiocy being spewed the past few days has forced us to state the (what should be) obvious.

I'm sure Ed was as much of a Gentleman as Johnny, but I guess the Senate didn't think so.
when he was alive most said he was a freak and now he is dead all of a sudden he is their hero.

I was outraged to see the flags flying at half mast on base today. I was sure it was for Jackson. And then I calmed down after remembering that Robert McNamara died and the flags were most likely for him.
That was precisely my sarcastic response today, when a co-worker casually asked if I was watching any of the coverage. I said, "Michael Who?"
She laughed and said, "Jacko."
I said, "Precisely. Michael Who?" She agreeably laughed again, getting my point.

Michael Jackson’s kids The nanny for Michael Jackson’s kids, Grace Rwaramba has spilled the beans about what life was like at the Jackson house to UK journalist Daphne Barak.
Grace, 42, has been with Michael for 17 years and says he fired her two months ago on a whim because she was “getting too close” to his kids. She said expected to be hired back as she had been several times before when Michael realized couldn’t handle the kids alone. She said the kids had a rough life.
She said she had heard reports lately that Michael wasn’t keeping himself clean or eating well and the house was a mess because he didn’t pay the housekeeper.
She said drugs often caused him to act strange or angry and he frightened the children. “What was most shocking to me was that the children don’t even have a teacher. They know nothing about the world. And they can’t play with other children.”
Grace says the children didn’t like the masks that Michael forced them to wear in public. She says she hopes to be reunited with the three children who are currently staying with Michael’s mother.
I’d like to see pictures. I want to know what Eric Cantor was doing during this important use of the taxpayers’ time. Because it’s just not enough that the city of LA has squandered millions of our dollars for police services and stuff so that Al Sharpton could showboat in front of a camera at today’s circus at the Staples center.

When I got a call form a friend today they asked if I was watching it and I said why on earth should I give my time to watch a freak, he was one to everyone when he was alive but for some reason not now he is dead.
My friend then backtracked and agreed, probably because they felt stupid for asking about it
