WASHINGTON — The House of Representatives paused for a moment of silence Friday to mark entertainer Michael Jackson's death.

Lawmakers briefly interrupted a debate on a global warming bill to stand in silence and honor the "King of Pop."

Rep. Diane Watson of California rose during the debate to suggest the House "pay tribute to the culture that he has left behind, his legacy."

Watson said the lawmakers send their condolences to Jackson's family, friends and his fans worldwide.

Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. of Illinois said the singer changed the world and he wants to "thank God for letting all of us live in his generation and in his era."

Sickening.

Jackson is the King of nothing, he’s a rotting corpse, a Pedophile and a felonious drug addict.

The recent hate crimes bill which protects pedophiles is as good a legacy as MJ gets.

A few minutes ago on The Factor Professor Marc Lamont called Jackson "the greatest musical genius since Mozart." No joke.

Yes, he did. What a crock.

Even if we only limit it to male black musicians we have Louis Armstrong, Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, Stevie Wonder, Nat "King" Cole, John Coltrane, etc. etc. etc. all of whom have influenced music more than MJ.>p/>MJ is popular in part for the same reason Madonna is popular... he is a freak that appeals to the senses. That does NOT make him a genius nor does it make him the greatest entertainer of all time.

Whether he is the best dancer ever, as Fred Astaire said he was, I leave that to others to judge. But musically Stevie Wonder is more of a genius and we heard him today on stage.

I wish the house of representatives would pay tribute to the citizens of this country with about three or four years of silence. That would be a start on getting us back on track.

It’s special that congress pays tribute to a man who can’t sing or dance. I’m in awe, with certain qualifications.

Do they EVER honor the fallen military?

Moment of silence around Memorial Day or Veterans Day?

After the moment of silence Barney Frank requested that they play “Beat it.”

Just more to add to the reasons to vote them out in 2010 and 2012.

I saw a clip of Jacko’s “daughter” choking back tears saying that he was the best father ever, so some such. Then she was consoled by (I think) Janet. It looked like a really bad acting job. Did the family or NOI “encourage” the poor girl to speak?

This truly is disfunction junction, where all roads head straight off into the abyss. Congresscritters are leading the way.

The Congress always does this kind of stuff. It’s basically just a gesture.

Oh, he means Beethoven and many other composers and musicians since Mozart’s time were musical midgets? Oh, the nausea of it all! Where did this “professor” come from?

When I read of things such as this, I wonder why we even have a congress. We are definitely living in spiritually dark times. Congress is hopelessly lost. It calls good, bad, and bad, good.

I’m curious—speaking of pedophile musicians, are they going to mourn as deeply when Gary Glitter kicks?
