Just a few quick thoughts on the Palin announcement, from the hotel lobby computer while I am on vacation.
It is amazing to see and to hear the commentary from all sides on her announcement. It appears that Sarah is a living, breathing litmus test. Peoples' responses run a continuum:
Speaking of Reagan, that, I believe, brings up one of the reasons the left despises and fears her. Like Reagan, Palin has an instinctive, instant connection with the common man. She can go over the heads of, around, and through, the press: when was the last time Letterman had to apologize for anything? And her fans remain adamant, despite a full-court-press bent on her destruction, and that of her family: even the "for the children" crowd could not resist going after her children.
Oh, and speaking of "the common man" and of hypocrisy on the left. Remember that the great qualification of Sonia Sotomayor is supposed to be "the different experience" of "a wise Latina woman". Funny. If you look up Sonia's schooling (and since) it shows all of the Ivy League pedigrees and Washington-New York corridor credentials of the white males she is "supplanting". But let a "self-made" woman who really has different experience try to get into the game -- and the different experience becomes cast as "the Arctic Hill-billies". Funny how that works.
Enough of all her critics and detractors. What does Sarah herself have in mind? Your guess is as good as mine. But there are a couple of points I haven't seen connected yet. Her pre-announcement twitter that "It is good" belies the idea that she is running away with her tail between her legs, as does the picture below:
(The look to me is one of relief "thank God *THAT'S* over" and anticipation.)
Stay tuned, I don't think Sarah considers herself finished just yet. ("A higher calling.")
Cheers!
Cheers!
Elite Snobs vs American Family Values !
One thing that cannot be said about Sarah any longer. She has been vetted.
Democrats and jealous women and frightened DU politicians have searched everywhere for a rumor or snip of information to hang her with , and she has beaten them all at least once and now has to beat some of them twice. As they cannot find anything new they bring up old crap again.
She is correct, she cannot protect herself and still do her job as Governor so she steps down. Now she can bring forth law suits against the lying ,conniving, POS people who went after her simply because she has ideas of her own.I hope she does sue them and I hope she wins.
I cannot see her as President, though at this time and seeing what else the Republicans have to offer , she is far and away our best candidate.
Let the games begin in earnest.

It will be interesting to see how the RINOs MeCain, Romney and Mr. Steele treat her.
The more State-TV belittles her and the more the anonymous Republican insiders attack her, the bigger and stronger her base of Conservatives become!

It certainly affected me. I was somewhat waivering on her - especially as some of the Republican governors started taking stands on the “Stimulus” ...but the attacks on her tell me that she has something much larger than I can understand, and the last time that happened, it was 1980.
And always think of the contrary. Why attack her if she’s not a threat? So, she gets savaged and at the same time we’re told by the media and Republican insiders (and some people even on this site) that she’s washed up.
Well, by the end of the summer, we’ll see how washed up she is...right now these same people certainly don’t behave as if she’s washed up.
Couple of thoughts on Palin’s announcement *PING*

I am proud of her and support her. She is a great American.
The left, the MSM, and many RINOs hate her precisely because her very life and its achievements refute all of their entitlement and big government arguements...and let's not forget, many hate her as well because she and Todd chose life for their down's syndrome son, Trig. God bless them for that.
I think Sarah has just turned, like a fed-up mama Bear, on her detractors. She has put things in order, she has left them in the hands of capable people, and she has now turned to face her enemies directly.
...and I think they are going to be sorry. We have smelled the fear in them for a long time. Good on her!
I believe she will assist others greatly in 2010, and will run herself in 2012...and she has my full support.
GO SARAH GO!
Precisely, and it bears repeating. Despite all their wailings about "glass ceilings" Sarah has beaten the traditional leftist-decried ol' boy network, has (with a family and husband) fought her way through the ranks to become Governor, has (without an Ivy League degree) become not only Governor, but a focal political figure, has rallied millions to conservatism, has walked the pro-life walk and not just talked the talk, has basically shattered every liberal 'feminist victimhood' myth about achievement by a woman, and remains attractive despite their full-court political harassment.
Liberals have failed to destroy her marriage, her family, her State (by resigning, she takes the heat off Alaska's government to give the State room to get things done), and they have failed utterly in destroying her, despite every attempt to do so with false and spurious allegations.
She may have resigned the Governorship, but she is far from done, and the shrillness of the liberals proves this, even the ones within the Republican party are howling to try to bury her politically because she is as much a political threat to the RINOs as the Democrat Liberals.
The very assaults by the liberal feminazis exposes their base hypocrisy.
If she can get past the Libs on a speaking circuit, she has the potential to energize and rally not just existing conservatives, but bring many more--both Republican and otherwise to the ranks, which is a serious threat to the Liberals and Country-club GOP alike.
May God Bless her and guide her and keep her and her family safe.
I am proud of her and support her. She is a great American.
Agreed!
