The harsh advertising climate has forced one of New York City's leading gay and lesbian newspapers to lay of its staff and suspend publication.
From the New York Times
The New York Blade, one of the two major gay and lesbian newspapers in New York City, has laid off its editor in chief and suspended publication, the chief executive of its publishing company said on Wednesday.
Everyone was let go, but the people on The Blade know that they may come back if The Blade is coming back, said the executive, Matthew Bank, of HX Media, which was formed in 2005 by the merger of The Blade and HX Magazine.

Huh ... whodda thunk reliance on 1½ percent of the population as a basis of readers would lead to failure. LOL ...
Say it ain’t so!!! What a tragedy.
;-)
It’s bad enough that these papers exist, but they are so easy to pick up in those ubiquitous boxes on street corners all over town. Do the publishers care if the paper falls into the hands of young children? Do they care? That’s what they want! If you live in a big area like NYC, run by evil liberals, you really get to see what the gay thing is all about. Here’s a hint: it’s NOT just about civil rights!
Don’t let the door hit you in the...oh there’s somebody in the way.
Nobody will miss it.
Well that sucks ... snicker, channeling my inner 10 year old
LOL!!
The Blade gets axed...

Did it fold...or just bend over?
LMAO!!!
Somebody will. (He just can't admit it...yet.)
What a stupid statement. Sounds like he talks out of his a** too.
Is it considered “normal” to “layoff” the editors and staff. Do gays do it one way and lesbians another?
Who would have thunk that an industry based solely on where one chooses to put their sexual organs would exist in the first place?
What happened to the homosexual mantra of “we just want to be left alone in the privacy of our bedrooms?”
ROTFL!
