NEW YORK, NEW YORK- The New York Mets may be looking at another injury; this one, however, is not baseball related. According to Jonathan Ellis, a representative for David Wright, the New York slugger could be headed to the DL because of a promise he made to a child.
Ellis explains that Wright had been visiting a children's hospital in New York, which Ellis refused to name, as part of the Baseball Outreach program. While there, Wright visited an eight year old child with kidney failure.
"Doctors told us that they had been having difficulties finding a donor," Ellis stated. "The kid told David that he was his biggest fan in the world, but that he couldn't leave his bed to see a real Met game because he was so sick."

You can’t be serious
BASEBALL PING LIST

If you would like to be on the ping list let me know.
This will be a medium volume ping list during the baseball season and a low volume ping list when all life stops in late October.
Had you ever needed a transplant, you would not be making such a shallow and asinine remark.
Damn. All Tigers 3rd baseman Brandon Inge did was hit a home run for a kid last week.
He’s gonna have to step up his game.
Incredible. Godspeed. Baseball rocks. Yankees rule.
Some things in life are just bigger than a game that a year from now nobody is going to remember or care about.
“Wow” is right.
I would seriously doubt that Wright is donating his kidney during the season.
The Met’s always have next season. David Wright is giving this kid a tomorrow. You can’t even compare the two together. David Wright just showed that he is much more than a Baseball player.
He is under contract to the Mets to play the season. I don't think that elective surgery, no matter how selfless, that would no doubt sideline him for at least weeks, is something that the Wilpons would approve of.
Wow, a New York baseball player a Red Sox fan can actually respect and like.
ATABOY David Wright
For those who don’t know David Wright is leading the National League in batting average. This would be a pretty selfless act but certainly would put the Mets in a pickle. If he chooses to do this I’m sure the Mets will be hoping for a quick recovery.
really though, i would support this decision. and i think the recovery time is relatively short. DW is a solid dude.
let's go METS!
ping.
The child is experiencing kidney failure,is too sick to leave his bed and they are having trouble finding a donor. If true, it sure sounds like there is a real sense of urgency. I’m sure David will do the right thing nomatter the timing. It would obviously be a very selfless act on his part. As an afterthought, the Met’s stink and are going nowhere.
There are many; myopia is something genetic Red Sox fans seem to have in common. It's the "Once in a Century" effect, I think.
Now don't prove the rule by failing to have a sense of humor, too!
Can a grown man’s Kidney fit in an 8 year old??
Something doesn’t sound right
Ha ha, sort of. Perhaps if we could have seen it done, instead of read about it, it would have actually been funny.
"Satire" tag gets another vote.
