The Highest Tax Increase Ever (Cap and Trade)
The Waukesha News ^ | June 27, 2009 | Bernard Hall

Posted on 06/27/2009 9:07:53 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

One would think that after months of complaining, and being cynical about how this trustworthy a tax-and-spend liberals could be, that Congressional Democrats could not possibly do anything that would make me more disappointed in them. But they have.

The latest legislation to be bulldozed through Congress without details, no specifics, abetted by lies is to do good, feel-good legislation known as climate change. Formerly known as global warming, the name had to be changed because the science no longer backed up the propaganda. Also known as climate change caused by man, it is the latest economy wrecking bill being shoved on the American people by the Obama administration.

Passing in the House of Representatives albeit by a slim margin it followed party lines. This means my congressman voted intelligently while the other Democrats from Wisconsin in Congress all voted for this. What were they thinking? Were they thinking?

The climate change legislation is geared toward ending our dependence on fossil fuels and creating alternative fuels for clean burning energy. Well, that is the noblest of ideas, that is being achieved by the stupidest means. This creates a taxing structure in which businesses will now be taxed for energy usage. And everyone knows that costs incurred by businesses are always passed down to the end consumer. So who's going to pay for this? Businesses? Ultimately no.

Wisconsin generates the bulk of its electricity from coal fired plants. And with our long, long winters, we have to keep our homes and businesses warm. Just about all of this is done with fossil fuel. Either heating oil, natural gas, or electricity which comes from coal. This means that energy users, you and me, are going to be paying the bulk of this tax. Congress wants you to believe that this is going to cost about the same as a postage stamp per day. Not in Wisconsin. Fuel costs are going to triple. They have to in order to continue to subsidize the poor people who live in energy inefficient homes. What a great deal that becomes for the average user.

Wisconsin Democratic delegation in Congress who clearly are not thinking of constituents. They are merely falling in line with Nancy Pelosi because they have no backbone. They are completely ignorant of the impact that this is going to have on the state they should be looking out for. The Congressional Democrats in Wisconsin are so stupid that they do not even know what they are doing to their constituency, let alone their country.

If similar legislation becomes law, and of course it will be vague as everything else passed by the Obama administration, this will aid the state Democrats and completely the destroying business climate in this state. Any citizens that will be left will be back on the revived welfare system. Everyone will be receiving welfare in the state. Businesses will be gone, jobs will be gone, and no one can afford to own and run their household. The state flags should all be taken down and burned. The state motto is no longer in effect. Forward.

This is GLOBAL “social justice”. The college professors that make six figures and work 14 hours a week have been advocating this for year. This is our nutty professors peers, isn’t peer recognition what it’s all about?

DEMS cultivate envy…Cap-n-Trade assuages envy globally; it’s the ultimate universal appeasement policy.

Once the policy slate is in place, maybe they stop propping the dollar. That crisis we bring => global currency. Maybe a euro-trash-union type global constitution include polite speech rules. Game over.

This legislation is stunning to me. I am still trying to comprehend how it will affect me. I am just able to keep my home with the currently high energy costs and high property taxes. I can’t figure out how to come up with money to pay more. As I write my gas bill of $162 for current usage of $40.86 it leaves a balance of $295.00. On a budget plan, I pay $162/mo/.

The Waukesha News might also want to add that Waukesha Engines are one of the leading manufacturers of natural gas compression engines. Made right there. This will be wonderful for the natural gas producers who buy their engines. (NOT)

You think this is bad, just wait until they ram hate crimes legislation “Child and School protection” and the attachment... Gun control (Which will look something like this)

1. An expanded HR 45, gun owner licensing. All gun owners will have to have these licenses, even owners of facilimie weapons (AKA Airsoft and BB). Licenses will only be granted if the records of the applicant are clean (This includes misdemeanors from decades ago). Licenses will have high renewal fees ($100-300/yr). Licensees will be required to hold $1 million in liability insurance. Possession of otherwise permitted weapons (See #3) without license is a felony.

2. Ammunition accountability... All ammo will be required to be microstamped and will be taxed $1/round. All non stamped ammo will be required to be turned in or thrown away. Possession of non-marked ammo is a felony. This part of the act also bans “Cop Killer” bullets. Furthermore, this will require the gun to leave a microstamp of its own on the ammo. (BTW, this will also affect law enforcement and military ammunition stocks, as they will be required to have stamps of their own)

3. Expanded “Assault Weapons” ban— This includes most all semiauto rifles, anything that can be “Bump Fired”, Semiauto handguns, and Semi-auto shotguns. It also includes pump-action shotguns and “Sniper Rifles” AKA your deer rifle. The AWB will also require people with “Prebans” to register their guns as Machine Guns, and that the tax stamp will go up to $10,000 per weapon. If you can’t afford this, you have to turn the weapon in without compensation...

4. Expansion of the Lautenberg (D-NJ) amendment: Removes “Domestic Violence” as disqualifier to gun ownership, inserts any misdemeanor as disqualifer... Anyone with a misdemeanor on their record will be prohibited from owning a firearm. This includes DUI and traffic offenses, and offenses decades ago.

Finally, all CCW permits will be voided. Also, all gun and ammo imports will be banned.

And yes, this will be added in a last second midnight amendment to a thousand page hate crimes/protect the children and LEO’s bill so the NRA and other gun groups can’t fight against it.

If rumor is correct, he is trying to rush through what he can because he won’t be in office much longer.

That Birth Certificate thing has not gone away.

Maybe the realization that King Obama and his corrupt criminal machine is in total control of America. There is no way to stop this madness and by the time 2010 comes with possible gaining control of the Senate the damage will be so severe that recovery will be virtually impossible for many years if ever.

Will the Senate need a super majority of 66 votes to pass this garbage or can they get it done with the Al Franken majority?

Unless I am mistaken all they need is 51. If they only have 50, then the VP can vote to break the tie. The super majority is needed only if King Obama will veto the bill.

I’d really, really like to see the CEO of say Caterpillar or Deere announce at a press conference something like...”with the Congressional passage of ‘cap and trade’ apparently on track to become law in the next few weeks, it greatly saddens me to announce that Caterpillar will cease all US-based manufacturing on or about October 1, 2009. Caterpillar will retain our dealer network, however we will dismantle our domestic manufacturing facilities and move them to Mexico and China. We hope to be able to resume manufacturing products in January, 2010. We apologize to our many customers should any shortages of parts or equipment arise during this difficult period. We regret this decision, but given this legislation, we see no practical possibility of remaining an economically viable, vibrant and competitive manufacuring operation within the borders of the United States.”

That’d be a nuclear cruise missile headed straight for Pelosi’s post-menopausal midriff.

It is the northern states that use the most energy per home because of heating costs.

If energy becomes very expensive industry and people (who pay their own way) will have to move south.

That has already been the post WWII trend. Is that really what Congress intends?

Not in Wisconsin. Fuel costs are going to triple

I agree. As we fear the costs for heating, expressed our concerns to our elected
Officials,Herb Kohl,Dave
Obey and Tammy Baldwin they kicked us in the teeth any
Way. These 3 leaders including (suck up) Russ
Feingold, can't hide forever. They all will one day pay dearly for betraying Wisconsin.

This bill is going to send the jobs out of the country faster than NAFTA did. Hope that it is defeated in the senate, though I’m not optimistic that it will be.

The problem with this bill is it is contrary to reality. Carbon dioxide is not a pollutant or dangerous in currently emitted amounts.

This country does need to balance its budgets, both private and public. I favor a drastic cut in spending, but if some increase in taxation is also needed, so be it. I do not favor national bankruptcy.
