The Obama administration is renewing efforts to sign a United Nations treaty supposedly aimed at protecting childrens rights. Susan Rice, the U.S. ambassador to the UN announced on Monday that the administration is investigating when and how it might be possible to join the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC).
While a treaty codifying childrens rights may sound harmless, the true nature of this treaty is devastating to our family structure, Constitution, national sovereignty and security. New rights granted the child would include the right to thought, conscience and religion.
Do our children not already enjoy these rights? Our nation is already party to the treatys two optional protocols: one preventing Child Prostitution and Child Pornography, the other preventing Children in Armed Conflict.
Why either of the two are optional is disturbing.
Our country and our children stand to gain nothing from the passage of this treaty. In fact, the CRC would provide a far more damaging environment for children. So why are politicians like Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) who pushed for a 60-day timeline for ratification so anxious to sign?
In many ways, the CRC is a match made in Heaven for todays Democrat agenda. Upon ratification, Congress would have the power to enact any legislation in order to comply with the treaty. The result would be what the Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) calls the most massive shift of power from the states to the federal government in American history. National childrens health insurance and other social programs would be created in order to comply with the CRC. The U.S. would have to curtail defense spending in order to keep in proportion with these social expenses. To a western European country whose defense our military has subsidized for decades, this would have no...

The bigger problem is the continuation of the turning over of our country to those thugs in the UN. And the traitors who permit it.
Signing this treaty or any other is an infringement on our constitution, a betrayal of his oath of office, a betrayal of our nations sovereignty. It’s illegal as well.
Thanks for heads up on another Democrat plan to expand D.C. control over our families, way of life and States Rights. Our existing Constitution already protects our citizens rights and this includes our children. This bad treaty is an end run around our Constitution.
Who the hell is going to stop this nutcases? Most of our citizens are just as loony. That’s why they don’t care.
We can stop it by contacting our Senators - they will be the ones who ratify the treaty.
Homeschool ping. This treaty is not good news for homeschoolers.

Surely not the Stupid Party and their lapdogs at Fox News.
This ping list is for articles of interest to homeschoolers. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping List. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added or removed from either list, or both.
Expand government, hurt children,
not to mention cause BLOOD IN THE STREETS
when they start to try to enforce it.
Crap...my senator is Chris Dodd...
We are being attacked on every single side. A part of me wants to fight, the other parts wants to give the middle finger to what this country has become and get out of Dodge. As long as the nation remains in the grip of certifiable lunatics who have purposed in their hearts to destroy our country, there is no hope.
On that happy note, I’m off to pick up the kids from VBS and drive through Chick-fil-A. May return in a better mood. We’ll see.
