... These are my thoughts, promted by this article below http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2274014/posts. Yes, sort of personal rant.. that I had to get off my chest :). Now, if you want to say something positive or negative, SAY IT (go on record), but don't expect me to argue or to convince you. This was written primarily for my buddies out there :)

Expect to start hearing something like this very soon on the campaign trail: “I’m a conservative Republican — emphasis on the ‘conservative’!”
While the label “Republican” is polling about as low as it’s ever polled, its part-time synonym — “conservative” — is the most popular ideological descriptor in politics.
I hate to say to many of you (everywhere) "I TOLD SO" (kidding :)
But I really believe this 'revelation' has something to do with the many "Republicans" who refused to elect a "Republican-Lefty," Mr. MaCaca! In our last election.... Now.... THAT would have been a TOTAL LOSS for SOCIAL-CONSERVATIVES, like me.
The next NECESARY step is come to terms as to what "conservative" really means nowadays. Yes I know. "what it has always meant," but that WOULD BE wrong in today's world. As I learned here in FR in the past two years, the label "conservative" does mean the same to all of us. For many being a conservative has to do with just about everything, but not necessarily apply to MORALITY (social-values).
For SOCIAL-CONSERVATIVES/REPUBLICANS however, morality (NOT SAINTHOOD...let's be real!), but simply basic human decency, (like respecting your own wife and family) is a measure of candidate's CHARACTER!...And character is BIG with us, because it reflects the quality of the man… an a politician with character is one I would TRUST, not completely, but a lot more that just a politician without it, if you know what I mean.
People used to tell me ten, fifteen years ago "Oh, all politicians are like that, blah...blah…blah…" and always pissed me off. I used to say "if they are (crooks), is because, we, the people, are a bunch of morons who allow them to get away with it. Ahhhh... But that was before the INTERNET! :) when we were at the mercy of LEFT MEDIA... but no more... the game has changed because now we can assemble, if only electronically as we do in FR, and LOOK at the results already… They just (media, politicians) that we had enough SPINE not to elect someone who I am sure would have destroyed, if not the GOP, certainly our “kind of conservatism,” the one that demands a better character in our candidates. “Politician” should not be a dirty word (con-artist, hypocrite, crafty, duplicitous?)
Look a me, one of the little people, yes... but I know that what we write here WILL BE READ by many people out there in cyberspace and I know many of them agree with me!... And that makes me feel VERY GOOD I should say.
One more constructive thought... If we are REALLY SMART in the Republican Party, we should start respecting all the important issues to all the different groups in the party, instead of fighting each other like idiots, destroying ourselves to the joy of the left. But let’s face it, SOCIAL-CONSERVATIVES are not, have never been, the idiot hicks everybody think we are, including many here in FR... As long as SOCIAL-CONSERVATIVES would to get along with everyone in our party, there is only one problem…we are the kind of people who can NOT COMPRIMISE on our important social issues. SO, the sooner we all recognize this fact, the sooner we can start “assembling” the kind of candidate that will make all of us happy, or at least not hate him.
I honestly believe that what happened in the last election – if not planned – it was at least, a gamble by the GOP in an attempt to move the party to the LEFT! (Yes, speculation, but I never thought of these political hacks as stupid or politicians for that matter, exactly the opposite) . MaCaca was out of the picture already, had been for a long time, specially here in FR!... and then… MIRACULOSLY, he is at the top, and even morphed in the champion of conservatism… in less than a year! … Naaahh…. I and many I’m sure did buy it. Even Palin’s move was scientifically calculated to bring us, the family-values conservatives (SOCIAL-CONSERVATIVES), to push him over top… BUT…. Sorry…It did not work this time (smile)
Palin was the only positive thing that came out of all this mess as far as I am concerned because it PROVES that it is POSSIBLE to be an authentic decent person, and a politician at the same time, and that is in great part why the left hates her so much.
