It's a phenomenon documented in “The Emperor's clothes”, in 1984 and lived through by millions under communism.
They lie to your face telling you that 1+1 is 2. For reasons that are a mystery to me, people that otherwise would see the lie for what it is, nod in agreement.
So it is the case here. A woman of modest looks, documentable lack of fashion sense, a walk that would send a rhinoceros into fits of passion, no grace, no humility and given to occasional bouts of cold, icy, almost hateful stares, is now elevated on a pedestal of fashion queen.
Well, thought police... we are not falling for it.
