CBS has an ugly face. But Im not speaking of physical appearances; rather, Im speaking of ideological appearancesthe appearances that put racism and sexism on full display for Americans. Just as it did with Don Imus, and just as it did with David Letterman.
If we are to take the case of David Letterman and Don Imus, we can easily see the clear distinction between the two cases. Don Imusa radio shock jock for over thirty years was summarily discharged after his comments regarding the Rutgers Womens basketball team.

The only move that CBS does have is to fire Letterman and hire Jon Stewart.
Nope. Not in a hurry to see Letterman without make up, or at all.
:-)
Yep, they could do that. Of course you're just putting another leftist in there, and we know they're not going to put anyone else in there.
CBS is not governed by a political process, it is instead governed by a business process which is dictated by profit.
Be careful what you wish for.
All right then, I wish conservatives were in power and implementing their agenda to bring America back to greatness.
And stop by #46 to get a view of good things about conservatives and conservatism.
Not on a Sunday evening, jimbo. I can’t take it.
:-)
I voted all three.
I voted all three as well.
CBS is in the marketplace. We consumers define what the market will bear. That includes the behavior of its employees and the quality of its product.
I take your point if you mean I should have put it into consumer terms instead of political but, since this is also a political issue, that seemed most appropriate at the time I was writing.
Also keep in mind that many double-standard media decisions these days have a distinctly political agenda so the boundaries between politics and profit making are very blurred. That's how fascism works and we are at the onset of fascism in the media world right now IMO.
The double-standard media companies are owned privately but strongly influenced by the desires of the govt. It's voluntary now, later maybe not so much if they can shut down Free Repubic, talk radio, etc.
I think that David Letterman will easily qualify as a male slut. So why is he accusing anyone else?
The thing is, NBC seems to be the “Worship Obama” network.
CBS seems to be the “BASH CONSERVATIVES” network.
ABC? They have John Stossel and Jake Tapper as token “balance”....they also had that 9/11 movie that stoked the Clintons. So maybe they’re a fraction more balanced. But I still don’t trust ‘em.
He's not accusing anyone else.
Nor do I. I don't even watch anything on the networks. And I haven't in a very long time.
Actually, only a certain segment of consumers define what the market will bear. And those being consumers between the ages of 18-45 who have the most disposable income and are likely to be consumers for the next 30-70 years. Therefore for CBS, older viewers are not as desirable as younger viewers.
Also keep in mind that many double-standard media decisions these days have a distinctly political agenda so the boundaries between politics and profit making are very blurred.
And that is why we need to keep the government out of the business of controlling the media with the fairness doctrine and why the FCC should stay out of the Lettermen issue.
True. That's the portion of the population that impacts its bottom line the most. The demographic you cite is the one that, without outside influence, by default most impacts the bottom line. But if another demographic group "rises up" and impacts that bottom line then they, the squeaky wheel, will get the grease.
the FCC should stay out of the Lettermen issue.
I absolutely agree with you. The FCC has nothing to do with this. This should be entirely consumer driven even if it has a political goal.
Sarah should stay out of this, too. This is our fight. She has better things to do.
He married a guy?
