MSNBC DNC shock jocks!

A curious phenomenon is occurring with regard to cable news viewers. Since the election those networks that have been decidedly pro-Obama are in deep trouble. Revenue has tanked and viewers have been leaving in droves. At the same time, outlets such as Fox News have been gaining new viewers by leaps and bounds. What's going on here? There is a reasonable explanation for the shift, and the news isn't good for the Obama administration.

So. No cable, no satellite. Only Roku streaming, netflix DVDs, and broadcast HDTV channels for the morning weather and traffic.
I have to say that it’s getting so bad that even wading through the local news channels can be painful. The local Fox channel is still having Obamagasms.

I think what is going on is that all those college kids who voted for him don’t watch news. Let’s face it the majority of the people who voted for him, voted for him for one reason, they thought it was cool if they were young and the others were teachers and professors, they thought it was sooo sixties to have a black president. Now they don’t really care about day to day news.
He claims to be an independent, and he states he is neither conservative or liberal, or Republican or Democrat.
Any person that can't figure out where to take a stand on conservative and liberal principles is merely a man who is:
1) Brain dead
2) Unprincipled.
3) Both
We have been contemplating this for a long time..it would save a lot of $$$!
CNBC and MSNBC use of “shock jocks” like Olberman for affect have had diminishing returns.
Once you’ve heard someone make some stupid incindiary remark without substance it becomes boring and then irritating.
People still have a need for news and anaylsis and will seek it out.
Unless someone is a total leftist loon, viewers are insulted by the shock jocks.
I'd like to bang their heads against a wall myself. Right now I have a lot of disdain for Obama voters who are seeing the light way too late and almost as much for conservatives who sat on their hands in 2008, STUPIDLY thinking that McCain and Obama were one in the same. Can they say Sotomayor?
They never watched that much before either though. If there were stats showing a dramatic up-tick in the viewership prior to the election with the corresponding drop now, it would support your theory, but I don’t think that is the case.
I’ve been tempted to check out netflix for sometime now.
I witnessed a couple of old hippies at Blockbuster engaged in a heated and animated discussion re. Obama. The part I overheard was the frustration of this old lefty with all his associates who felt they had to vote Obama because he was black. But on the other hand Pravda is welcoming Obama to the Marxist fold.

I’ve been with Netflix since 2001 or 2002, so I’m biased.
But the broadband streaming is relatively new.
It’s great.
“58% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President’s performance so far. Forty-one percent (41%) now disapprove.”
The congress on the otherhand has an approval rating of 28%. The GOP will pick up seats come 2010. We still haven’t had the fight over health care which is coming. We still haven’t had the fight over right to work. We still haven’t had the fight over cap n trade.
That 41% just isn’t Republican voters. The undercurrents are bad for Obama and the GOP can capitalize and can win big if they stop whining and get back to their roots.
I hope you're right. But, I've made a conscious decision to be pessimistic about 2010, lest I face the same crushing disappointment of 2008. It's just better for my mental health if I keep expectations low.
2008 went to pot as soon as the economy hit and the GOP didn’t throw Bush to the curb when he proposed the Bailout and then McCain rode to Washington and did nothing. I find it better to focus on winning till you actually lose. All we can do is do our part. My father voted for Obama and that was depressing.
Yes, it's political strategy 101, and also why he's nominated a liberal racist as his first Supreme Court pick (and hopefully his last).
IMHO 2008 went to pot when Duncan Hunter was sidelined.
Simple as that.

And see if there are other fights to come, such as over this trial balloon over a value added tax/national sales tax. See if the gay activists push hard about repeal of Don’t Ask / Don’t Tell or the Defense of Marriage Act. Things could get ugly, at least from the Democrat point of view.
I would like to see the battles take place. The worst thing would be to see Obama get everything he wants without risking his “political capital” and overall popularity. Republicans should make his life at least as miserable as the Democrats did to George W. Bush. There are two political parties for a reason, as each as a different outlook on what our policies should be on a whole range of issues. When we disagree with the President, we should fight him and Democrats on their plans.
I worry too, about, how much of what happens will be permanent. If we go to socialized medicine, for example, how the heck would that ever be repealed? If the camel’s nose gets in the tent on a value added tax, how the heck do you ever get rid of such a tax permanently in the future?
