I need some help creating a blog. I have a specific focus, pages of ideas, my own domain (.com and .net) but the learning curve involved with creating my blog is so high for me, that I fear it will take weeks and weeks to just get the basic format together.
I signed up for GoDaddy.com's Quick Blogcast tool, and it is not only very un-intuitive but it has many glitches.
I checked out Wordpress and love many of their features, but from what I read, I can't have my own sponsors. I'm thinking that my blog/podcast idea may be successful, and I want to keep that option open.
Help! Is there an online blog tool that is use friendly or should I find someone to create it for me?
Thanks in advance. Today I spent five hours on my very slow laptop dealing with set-back after set-back, and all I can say is that it's a good thing I don't have high blood pressure.
I use register.com and they have a do it yourself option that is pretty easy.

There was a discussion about this topic I think last Sat or Sun on Leo Laportes’ radio show. He has all of the show notes at his site:

If you own your own domain, you can buy hosting that will let you run WordPress. e.g. Dreamhost, lots of others.

Can help you with hosting and offer some advice on setting up your own blog. There are a number of blog or content management systems out there. I am partial to expression engine, but you can check out joomla (which is open source...also contains a great user community for support, ideas, etc.)
Word Press is easy to use and has a number of templates available. It just depends on what your ultimate goals are. Also depends what your budget, programming skills etc are.
Just let me know if you have any questions.
