Satire? Well, before they fire a cop or a teacher, shouldn’t they cut the $40M budget for sea otters?

And maybe consider turning the water back on to the central valley farmers, who are about to cost the state BILLIONS as they go bust?

“It’s a demonstration of lack of trust in those of us charged with governing this state,”

Ya think? Of course, his response is a demonstration of a lack of understanding of what the voters were thinking....

I know this is satire, but it is awfully close to the serious editorials I read last Wednesday morning.

And there will, in fact, be a huge “revenge” factor in what is cut. They won’t be cutting colostomy bags for illegals — it will be the most visible and painful cuts that can be made.

“Now we will get to see how voters like having their kids home early from school, paying for their own medicine, dodging the thousands of criminals given early paroles, and making citizen arrests,” the Speaker continued.
If they let this dickhead keep his job then they deserve what they get.

Ah, yes. The old “firemen first” coercion.

Nice job, JS.

and they still refuse to allow off shore drilling. Here in Santa Barbara we have the oil rigs just sitting there and on occasion we smell oil because they are not used so they actually leak out oil. Give me a break. If they would have allowed drilling way back in early 2000 when Bush proposed we would have been very close to that 10-15 years the lefties always argue it takes to profit or whatever their stupid argument is. It would have been perfect timing. These people all need to take a hike. There are many solutions right in front of their faces.

Excellent John. When I read that nasty Sacremento Bee article yesterday I felt tempted to ask if you wrote it.

Satire? It sounds just like what Arnie said to us. Satire is great when it is a PLAY on the real thing. In this case? It IS the real thing. I could completely imagine anyone of those idiots saying these things.

Schwarzenegger emphasized that “the cuts must occur in highly visible and essential services in order to let people know the consequences of their votes. It would do us no good to make cuts in the parts of government that people don’t understand. If we fire planners, consultants, regulators, tax auditors and such, the average citizen wouldn’t feel a thing and those who do probably would feel relieved. That sends the wrong message.”

LOL, you keep getting better and better! Great satire is not prose that is quickly grinned at with a nod and a chuckle, but is, instead, readily believed to be truthful. Sometimes I read your pieces and, following my eyes squinting in uncertainty, check the author and the source. This was one of those. Excellent.

FRegards,
LH

(P.S. I also enjoy perusing the posts on your threads because you are so good you manage to nail lots of freepers. ...In a GOOD way.)

Not ONE word about cutting back outrageous public union pensions, pay, benefits and perks. It is the subject that can not be discussed and can not be touched - EVEN IF IT IS THE LARGEST PART of the CA budget.

First, Memorial day is to remember the military. Police officers are civilians, not a military or naval service.

Lets give the State some severe pain.

When the state stops performing legitmate tasks using legal means, representatives of the state are tyrants, and become legitimate targets. That is one reason why the powers of the state are limited- So the state remains legitimate.

State workers, when told to perform tasks which are not legitimate, and use illegal methods should refuse, and if necessary quit.

For example, if a police officer offers to forgive a ticket in return for a bribe or sexual favors, his acts are illegitimate, and he has thus earned the status of a robber or a rapist, or worse. Worse because he is trading the legimate authority of the state for his criminal gain. Defending oneself from a robber or a rapist is legitimate self defense.

When the Union supports such a bad apple, they become accomplices to robbery and rape. Such a Union would dishonor the many thousands of honorable police officers.

Before acting on this, remember that strong and overwhelming evidence of the officer’s guilt beyond the mere assertion would be a very good idea. Powerful charges need strong evidence.

I think the first cut that should be made is to legislator’s salaries. I’d think cutting that by about 50% would be a very good first step! :)

Assembly Speaker Karen Bass (D-Los Angeles) had better watch her step. If this remark get out she out on her a@@. Guess this dimwit will find out just what silly remarks can do. It's about time to cut their salaries and thin out the State employees. Eliminate much of the duplication and dump environmental crap.

And so now the government of California has become the PUNISHER of the people by declaration.

Time to throw them out!

Our city made the same threat when we voted against one of their pet taxes. What happened? They cut a lot of the social things (parades, park funding, etc.) and donations and private enterprise took over.

Something makes me think that this satire is very close to the truth of how some California elected pols feel . . .
