Swartzy could start with a 50% reduction in the pay of all obvious state employees beginning with himself and the legislature on down through all departments of the state for all employees making over $70,000 a year. All employees under $70,000 would be set at, say—$35,000, until the budget is balanced. Critical services should be tightened down and non critical services slashed. Enact a work for food plan where welfare recipients have to work at public works for enough hours to justify their rocking chair checks.
