Let me preamble by pointing out that if George Bush had done this, it would have been sufficient for a blatantly dishonest and biased media to broadcast the footage everywhere in order to create the narrative that Bush was hopelessly stupid, and it would have inspired a four-part CNN miniseries questioning why President Bush was so hostile and so ignorant regarding Hispanic culture. Mainstream talking heads would have crawled out of myriad holes to opine on this shocking display of stupidity and insensitivity, and "journalists" would have produced dozens of offended Mexicans to document their outrage for mass consumption. Many would discover some deeply hidden and obscure racist meaning to "cinco de quatro," a la "macaca."
WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama's joke wasn't lost in translationeven though he referred to a Cinco de Mayo celebration as "Cinco de Cuatro."Obama jumbled his words as he welcomed guests to the White House to observe the Mexican holiday, sending the crowd into laughter before he referred to the day correctly.Youtube."Welcome to Cinco de CuatroCinco de Mayo at the White House," said Obama, in what appeared to be an attempt to note they were celebrating on the fourth of May instead of the fifth.
Cinco de cuatro means "five of four" in Spanish.
It continues to amaze and astound me that the mainstream media bask in the glory of all that is Obama and characterize him as the most brilliant man who ever lived. Bush used his teleprompter ONLY for major speeches; Obama takes his teleprompter EVERYWHERE HE GOES and can't even seem to successfully say, "Good morning" without being able to read it from some screen. And Bush was the stupid one?
I mean, Bush had his share of awkward constructions, but at least they were HIS awkward constructions. Without his teleprompter, Obama is like THIS:
And like this:
We no longer have a president; we have "the Teleprompter of the United States" (TOTUS).
Let's realize something. TOTUS might be brilliant; TOTUS might be inspiring; but Barack Husseing Obama is a first class pompous idiot. The same media that relentless attacked and characterized Bush for his every foible is too dishonest and too biased to do the same with their new messiah.
FUBO.....and Chinga tu madre, pinche cabron.
eh.. he said it on may 4th, it was a joke (a bad one). Plenty of real stuff to crap on him for.
Wow. You know... I don’t watch television. I haven’t owned one for about 17 years or so. That youtube video where he’s trying to say something about the cost of health care was the first time I have ever heard Obama speak.
That was shocking...
I need to post that link to some of my Scottish friends who gave Bush so much stick and who gush on and on about Obama.
My roommate is Mexican (legal)and he laughs at this. Mexicans don’t celebrate Cinco De Mayo. It’s like Sadie Hawkins Day here in the US.
Heard a great blooper on Sean Hannity radio today.
Obama was talking about the military’s ‘fallen heroes’ which normally means honored dead. But he finished it off by saying he “saw a lot of them in the audience today.”
I was always fond of Seven of Nine myself.
eh.. he said it on may 4th, it was a joke (a bad one). Plenty of real stuff to crap on him for.

You don’t understand. He DIDN’T say, “Happy Quatro de Mayo,” (fourth of may); he said “Happy cinco de quatro” (five of four).
I hope you know what liberals would have reacted had Bush said some dumbass thing like this.
You’re right. There IS plenty of other stuff to crap on Obama for. And I’ll crap on him for that, too.
The important thing is that Obama ends up wearing as much crap as liberals made Bush wear. Over time, the unrelenting attacks on Bush brought him down. Do unto Obama as liberals did unto Bush.
It’s a regional holiday in Mexico, celebrated primarily in the state of Puebla.
It is not a legal holiday in Mexico, and is not a celebration of Mexican Independence (I think its September 16).
You’re right. It’s more celebrated here than it is in Mexico. But that said, few Americans haven’t heard of Cinco de Mayo.
Maybe it was an audience of World War I veterans, who had “fallen and couldn’t get up”?
I remember that one.
My favorite is still Obama visiting all 57 states.
Yes, it was a stupid joke. See him look at his watch after he says it. I agree with you that there are far too many real problems to address without making a mountain out of a molehill. When I heard about this, I thought like others have, what an imbecile. However, seeing the video, one can clearly see he was attempting a joke.
Unfortunately, the joke is on us. We’re stuck with him for over 3 1/2 more years, MINIMUM!
