Illinois Republican national committeeman said that state Sen. Chris Lauzen of Aurora should take a deep look to see if he wants to say in the GOP and shouldnt make another bid for Congress in the far west suburbs.
Pat Brady, who last summer became Republican National Committeeman from Illinois to replace the controversial Bob Kjellander, also said he expected a GOP primary contest next year for nomination to the 14th Congressional District seat won last year by freshman Democrat Bill Foster of Geneva.
Among those considering a bid for the seat formerly held by longtime Republican U.S. House Speaker Dennis Hastert of Plano is Hasterts son, Ethan, Brady said in an interview Sunday on WGN-AM (720).

RINO ALERT RINO ALERT!!
Illinois GOP Rino Alert!!
Illinois has the same problems that Massachusetts has with many years of RINO Republicanism.
Their goal of killing the MA GOP was 100% successful, with Slick Willard himself delivering the final death blow.
*ping*
The majority of IL Republicans, I know, usually agree with State Sen. Lauzen. Brady probably complained about Lauzen because Brady was elected in 2008. He thinks that when he runs for re-election, in 2012, we’ll forget what he did, in ‘09.
These attempts to install the unqualified progeny of powerful current or former politicians is a dreadful practice. Hastert’s progeny, obviously another cog in the Combiner wheel, will only guarantee Foster gets a third term next year.
hmmm ... let's review ... Republican National Committeeman is chosen by who?
hmmm ... force-fed to state convention by State Central Committee, elected by whom?
not by you and not by me ... unless we get SB600 passed
and who's child is that?
I agree. We should be able to find a conservative candidate, who will run, based on his or her experience, not because of his or her parent. That district has four state senate districts, and three of the senators are Republicans. The district has four state house districts, and three of those reps. are Republicans.
I was a delegate, at that convention. When I arrived, I thought that, in the elections for national committeeman and committeewoman, we would have three choices, for each race. Right before the election, I heard that each race had been changed to one person, for each race, and we were asked to vote yes or no. It was similar to elections, in the communist Soviet Union.
I’m surprised they didn’t cut the formalities and instruct you folks to vote yes, and if anyone intended to vote no, they direct you to a private room, hand you a pistol with one bullet in the chamber and bill the cost of the bullet to your next of kin.
I was a delegate at the 04 convention. We were not allowed into the hall with our “DUMP KJ” signs.
Chris Lauzen is no RINO. In the state Senate, he was part of what was called “The Fab Five,” five conservative legislators who battled their party’s leadership from the right. He’s staunchly pro-life and pro-gun. IMHO, he should be the nominee for Congress in 2010.
At the time, he called me back and said he was in debt due to Oberweis spending millions of dollars of attack ads against him, and also that Oberweis had damaged his reputation with endless attack ads in the primary, so he was in no position to mount a new congressional campaign from scratch. He certainly might be willing to consider another bid in 2010 for the 14th though -- I haven't asked. I do think it's very unlikely he'll run statewide again.
I'd support Lauzen over son-of-Hastert in a second, that's a no-brainer. I think he's kind of the Tom McClintock of Illinois politics. A lone voice of conservative sanity in a state gone mad, always has a rough time trying to get out of the state senate to a higher office, and is often ridiculed and dismissed by the GOP establishment. Of course we all know where Tom McClintock is today -- he's a freshman Congressman, and I think Chris Lauzen can be one too.
For those who might otherwise be confused, please note that (closet RINO and pro-combine) RNC committeeman Pat Brady of Illinois is NOT related to Bill Brady, the conservative state Senator who came in 3rd of 4 candidates during Illinois 2006 gubernatorial primary (and is still demonized by the Oberweis crowd as a "Topinka plant" for who can't accept Jim Oberweis ever does anything wrong in his campaigns). Pat Brady IS, however, a cousin of State. Rep. Dan Brady, who is more pro-GOP establishment and a longtime rival of Bill Brady. And none of them are related to the Republican-turned-RAT Brady Bunch of the Gun Control Fame. Am I confusing anyone yet? ;-)
Every state Senator in the 14th endorsed Lauzen instead, as well as Steve Rauschenberger and former U.S. Senator Peter Fitzgerald. Not only did they endorse him, but they headlined his major fund-raising event and spoke on his behalf numerous times.
Hastert was the lone "big name" politician from the area to put his weight behind Oberweis in the primary.
If conservatives are smart they will question Hastert's judgment. He's been on the wrong side of every major endorsement, and now he wants his son to be the candidate.
In 2003, St. Sen. Lauzen was the only state senator who voted against the law which states that illegal aliens may attend state universities and pay in-state tuition.
Lauzen should “take a deep look to see if he wants to say in the GOP”? What a retarded comment.
I hope he runs. Hastert Jr. doesn’t deserve a seat in congress.
