So how is Obama really doing? Let’s ask the folks in Greenwood, S.C. It probably was not the intention, but this article from yesterday’s Washington Post [h/t/ Drudge] almost makes me weep for my country. It’s a telling anecdote about this economically disadvantaged Southern town which was gung ho for Obama on January 20, now not so much. Why? Their plight has not changed. What’s really sad is that they don’t realize it’s not going to. These citizens drank the Kool-Aid, just as many easily duped Americans have since LBJ’s Democrat-benefiting Great Society scheme.
The piece is mainly from the perspective of a councilwoman, Edith Childs, who is working around the clock to help her struggling town. Unfortunately, she’s looking for that help in all the wrong places, starting with a certain messianic figure who occupies 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, D.C. Here are significant parts of the long, depressing piece. I feel bad for Ms. Childs, because writer Eli Saslow makes this clearly decent and well-meaning woman look like a real dupe ... because she is:

America was warned about Obummer the charlatan from folks like Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, Sean Hannity and many many others but America refused to listen and turned a deaf ear to all criticism and allowed the MSM to do their thinking and voting for them just as Bernie Goldberg laid out in his book. Now all the American dupes who fell for all of it are now reaping the consequences of their folly. I hope they are satisfied but the rest of us who did not drink the Koolaid must also pay for their huge mistake unfortunately.
Hope and Change.
Illegal immigrations has made SC and MANY other states far far worse. Some fool in today’s Wall Street Journal editorial is calling for MORE immigration to “fix” our problems. I will not be rnewing my subscription when it comes due in a month.
Last week our department secretary was bemoaning the way the country is going - abortion, the released DHS documents, the bailout, etc and one of the analysts asked her if she voted for obama (of course she did, she’s a black, union card holding federal employee) and when she said yes, he said “well, you got the CHANGE you voted for...”
She said “I didn’t vote for this” and he about came over the desk at her “since he’s done every thing he SAID he would do if elected, what was your criteria for voting for him then?”
The response......silence.
PING for one of the sheeple getting their eyes opened....
A question to ponder:
Why is Obama trying to bankrupt America with $16 trillion in spending over the next 4 years?
The lucky towns will look like this in 4 years.

That’s a great article and it points to many of the problems with our polarized society. People like Mrs. Childs have been taught that government hand-outs are the solution... since the 1930’s! Black families started falling apart at about the time that everyone was embracing The War on Poverty. Obama was going to “pay my mortgage and fill my refrigerator... and give me a house.”
I wonder if Mrs. Childs asks any of her “clients” what they are doing to address their own problems? Or does she just make up her to-do list and figure it’s her responsibility to solve all these problems?
How in the world did we create the wealthiest and freest country the world has ever known with citizens like Mrs. Childs?

I can't speak to the "no jobs and no food", but their houses aren't cold. I'm in NC and it hit 90 this weekend.
I'd prefer a cold house. Would save $$$$ on AC.
That was the worst part of it, this Edith Childs woman sounded way too smart to believe that Obama would bring them all to Big Rock Candy Mountain.

Except we all know EXACTLY why she (and others here) voted for Zero. Must have mistaken the election for a beauty contest and voted looks first since opinions don’t count in beauty contests..

Truth be told, I suspect a McCain wouldn’t have made much difference to alittle burg such as this. Still, the heartbreak of the naive who thought their ship had come in is nothing to gloat over.
