Obama signals the end of American dominance
Telegraph Blogs (U.K.) ^ | April 2, 2009 | Alex Spillius

THERE is so much going on at the G20 that the significance of Barack Obama's remarks during his press conference with Gordon Brown on Wednesday has been overlooked.

He tried to tell the world that the US could not pull it out of this recession alone, that the mightiest economy is not mighty enough on its own for the job, as it had been in previous downturns.

This was the key passage: "In some ways the world has become accustomed to the United States being a voracious consumer market and the engine that drives a lot of economic growth worldwide. And I think that in the wake of this crisis, even as we're doing stimulus we have to take into account our own deficits. We're going to have to take into account a whole host of factors that can increase our savings rate and start dealing with our long-term fiscal position, as well as our current account deficits.

"Those are all issues that we have to deal with internally, which means that if there's going to be renewed growth, it can't just be the United States as the engine."

This was a tacit admission that America's global supremacy is on the wane. Sure, it will remain pre-eminent for years to come, but not all powerful. A nation that will owe between one eighth and one twelfth of its GDP every year for the next decade will simply not have the spending power to revive the global economy on its own. A nation that got fat on oversized personal debt will have the elasticity to spend on imports they don't need as much as it has for the past generation. When the recovery is in place, Americans (and Britons for that matter) will need to start saving at a rate of

BO has turned America into just another third world banana republic. We should all be so proud.

Yup. Blue helmets on American soil will be just the powder keg for what we’re waiting for.

Yep, especially if US citizens don the colors of the un. They would be traitors and should be shown no quarter.

Obama and company may have already ensured they will win the next election, and the one after that, and so on. They are banking, literally, on the generations that follow the Me Generation seeing their vote the way Al Gore's daughter did--vote for the guy who's gonna give you more stuff.

If the Dems succeed in making themselves the party that steals from The Rich and gives to The Non-Rich, then no amount of talk about liberty or freedom from government is going to stop the mass of non-producers from voting D from now on.

I grow weary of Rush's endless defense of fat cats when the fat cats themselves have betrayed capitalism. The very business class we've spent so much time defending is running to the government with hands out, saying 'Me, too!' to the bailout money, stings-attached and all.

However bad he was, McCain wouldn't have been THIS bad. Even so, neither he nor Palin nor any other Republican "leader" I can see is capable of overcoming the Left, which controls the MSM. (When people tell me about FOX, I tell them to look at the numbers FOX gets--a few million in a nation of a quarter billion.)

Any doubt one has about this will be erased by looking at Barney Frank, one of the architects of this mess, who is known as a defender of The Little Guy because of his hide-in-plain-sight approach.

Not trying to bring anyone down, but I can easily see myself withdrawing from even being concerned about all of this, and just living day to day as best I can, trying to make my way through life, keeping a low profile so the troglodytes who are being ennobled by this bizarre administration won't kill me. Maybe I'm just in a bad mood tonight.

See the socialists are panicked.

They are failing (as they ALWAYS do) in their individual countries.

So they think that pooling their efforts (NWO) will save them.

What they don’t get (if they did get it they wouldn’t be socialists) is that it’s the PRINCIPLES that are failing them.

One socialist will fail the same and ten million—it doesn’t work! It kills people!

IOWs America has become too socialist to continue its long tradition of excellence. We are now as useless and confused as the rest of you so don’t count on us to save you anymore.

O, just shut up!

I refuse to participate in your socialism, Mr. Obama. And I refuse to allow your attitudes to let me kiss my country goodbye.

The new national anthem under Barack Obama (same as Jimmy Carter) We're number two...We're number two....We're number two!
As much as Clinton bugged me the last time I felt this way was when Jimmy Carter was in office.

Clinton was reckless and the stupidest guy alive. Jimmy sucked the life out of us. The new guy wants to wipe us off the planet.

Deja Vu!

Alot can change in a short period of time and he’s just getting started. Some of the shady things they’ve been doing will start to come out. It reminds me of the Nixon administration in some ways. Just when he thinks he’s the most powerful thug in the country, some BS he pulls will inevitably come out and bite him in the arse. That’s just the way our political system works, and I think it’s something the framers intended to be one of those invisible checks on power.
