From AceofSpades
"Meet HR 875. Its a "small" bill, not nearly as voluminous as the Spendulus, and it can easily be read in one sitting if you just want to get the gist of the nightmare it will create."
"Basically, HR 875 sets up a MASSIVE new government bureaucracy called the Food Safety Administration, and compels anything known as a "food establishment" to register with the federal government (paying registration fees of course) and to submit to inspections that are at different intervals depending on the type of "food establishment" you are."
"As a practical matter, a stand operator or small farmer can't guarantee where the stuff they're selling will be used once the customer drives away...so that basket of cherries that winds up in aunt Millie's pie two states away can throw you in hot water. I suppose the vendor could require each customer to sign a release guaranteeing the goods won't ever cross state lines, and simply refuse to sell to anyone with out of state plates and that might get them off the hook of this odious legislation".
"But then again, who operating a micro-business like this would risk the potential $1,000,000 fine? (Sec 405(a)(1)(A)"
Is that not freaking beautiful??!! The Democrats must lay awake at night in agony knowing there are still people somewhere in the nation smiling, happy and content, well fed and living their lives in peace!!! This Democrat controlled congress has gone insane! They would shut down fruit and vegie stands,, the one place where farmers can make a quick buck from their labors and people can pick up cheap fresh vegetables and fruits!!
If I write anymore I might start to swear!!Libertas
Big Brother reaches even farther.
This will impact sidewalk vendors in NYC
People would ignore most of this BS.
Their wicked fingers are reaching very deeply into our freedoms that have made us who we are. We have to stop this insanity!
God bless America!
Meanwhile, they’ve thrown out DECADES of reasonable health and sanitation controls on imports, so third world diseases are now pouring into our country from the south. Marvelous.
What would you expect from folks who come out of the Chicago machine. Chicago is run by payola and the “inspectors”.
They are picking small targets in order to gauge how much power they can safely seize while avoiding too much backlash.
Hopefully the vegetarian, organic flakes who voted for Obama will understand this.
Perhaps but the point is a massive, expensive, and entrenched new bureaucracy will ensue. We need to STOP THE MADNESS!!!
As a former farmers’ market manager, I can tell you with a fair degree of certainty that at least half of the people - vendors and customers - at farmers’ markets are heavily port listing. In fact many are outright socialists (think the whole foods movement isn’t co-opted? Think again.) so this is especially sweet. Kill freedom, grow weeds.
Yeah,,, this actually kinda conflicts with the envirowackos campaigns of “buy local!”
Where I come from sales by shade tree vegetable vendors are a way of life. There would be riots is the govt. banned them....
Did these dipwads ever hear of STATES?????
I agree, this is nothing but fascism. Not acceptable in America. They are micromanaging every aspect of life and it is not going to work in this country now or ever!!!!
If they were stupid enough to vote for obama they are too stupid to understand anything.
“Their wicked fingers are reaching very deeply into our freedoms that have made us who we are.”
And so we must cut off their wicked fingers. Preferably at the shoulders so they can’t pick pocket us any more.
That is what the idiots that voted for obama wanted.
A relative of mine was recently on vacation in new mexico and told me that there are laws telling you what you can and cannot grow in your vegetible garden there.
