Interestingly enough an important amendment brought to the floor today was not in the H.R. 1388 when it passed the Senate today.
The first presented by Sen Vitter (LA) wanted to insure that no money be made available to ACORN and its affiliates, on the grounds that it is a organization with possibly suspect behaviour and that including it in the bill would not be able to politicize charitable giving and activities.
Saying that the bill doesnt allow politicized does not necessarily protect the country from ACORNs so-called charitable activities. ACORN has already received considerable funding from the government, for instance $800 thousand from Fannie Mae from 2002-04.

I never thought i would live to see this day.
:(
But I have been saying that about a LOT of things since November 2008.
Why in the world would so many Republicans vote yes for this???

Why in the world would so many Republicans vote yes for this??? That's easy: it's because the GOP is no longer a right-of-center / small-government / pro-individual liberty political party. They have moved left as the Dims move even further left.

Are we nuts or are they? I don't get it.. WTH is wrong with these Republicans? Are they blind, corrupt or just “dumb all over.. a little ugly on the side”?

That is the easy answer ;)
I am wondering how in the world they justify it. Do they think that ppl wont read it? Do they care what anyone thinks? Are they afraid of Obama and his ilk? Are they so secure in their offices that they think they couldn’t possibly be voted out? Do they think that if they keep going left that they can redefine the party and enjoy the safety of not being a dime’s worth of difference?
I am curious! I don’t know many of the Republicans who voted for it. Perhaps ppl from their states can speak to their reasoning, as they know them better.
This is just insane.

Thank you joygrace, for keeping us all posted. Did you ever determine if the Senate version has the verbage about making the volunteer service mandatory, that was in the House bill?

Everyone of these bozos should be impeached for violating the 13th amendment.
I refuse to obey this thing or my children or my grandchildren. I intend to use the 13th amendment while it is still in the constitution as my defense before being sent to the new re-education camp.
On the plus side: It will be fun to watch the reactions of the obamanoids when they find out they are going to have to actually WORK for the first time in their life.
To: joygrace
Y'all CHILL!
I've been in a funk about this thing for about a week.
Then came a revelation:
This thing is a gift to conservatives, potentially.
If they make this mandatory, we've got the next election. We need only offer kids their freedom
