It is hard to believe how fast this is happening. We need to impeach this guy NOW. Here's the money quote:
The U.S. House of Representatives has approved a plan to set up a new "volunteer corps" and consider whether "a workable, fair, and reasonable mandatory service requirement for all able young people" should be developed.
The legislation also refers to "uniforms" that would be worn by the "volunteers" and the "need" for a "public service academy, a 4-year institution" to "focus on training" future "public sector leaders." The training, apparently, would occur at "campuses."
The vote yesterday came on H.R. 1388, which reauthorizes through 2014 the National and Community Service Act of 1990 and the Domestic Volunteer Service Act of 1973, acts that originally, among other programs, funded the AmeriCorps and the National Senior Service Corps.
It not only reauthorizes the programs, but also includes "new programs and studies" and is expected to be funded with an allocation of $6 billion over the next five years, according to the Congressional Budget Office.

Time to fire up the Dillon 650. It says it will turn out 600 - 800 rnds an hour. But the most I’ve been able to run is about 400. Any faster and I miss an occational primer and then the powder runs out. But 400 an hour works just fine for .308, .223 and 9mm.

The shirts will be black because this corps is going to be the Black Panthers.
Well, that might fit.
I saw somebody refer to Obama as “Il Douche” in another thread.

It's voluntary...no, it's mandatory.
Good luck getting all those "able young people" away from their cell phones, ipods & video games long enough to "volunteer."
OMG! All those Republicans voted aye???
There should not have been even one...
I was thinking of more recent events....
I smoked both my rep’s (McMorris, WA-5) local and DC Offices, as well as the County, State, and National GOP organs.
No more support, period. Not no way, not no how.
Not only NO, but HELL NO!
Not.
One.
Red.
Cent.
And now I’m tracking down a rumor that she saw it as “an extension of her NO vote on the bailout and stimulus bills”
Either too f’in stooopid, or too f’in dangerous...
Feel free to FReepmail me for sample letters.
Thanks for the link. At least my Rep. (Jeff Flake) voted no.
Until I looked at that list I didn’t know the Dem. Rep’s out number the Republican Rep’s in AZ. Very sad to think the state is turning purple....
Ping again! This is the one I told you about!
Thanks
Schock voted for this? He has been doing an ok job, but this vote was just boneheaded as can be. I’ll have to write to him to express me deed dissapointment.
5.56mm
I do not know anything about Schock. But I am pretty sure he did vote for it.
Simply found a reliable source for data and filtered out the Dems and singled out the Republicans that voted for this but should not have.
Often I do this when there is a bone-headed bill that passes. Try to let the Republicans know the we do not appreciate it.
This vote was quite a while ago, on March 20th.
