Would like FReeper suggestions for a mother/son dance song for a wedding
self

Posted on 03/17/2009 9:39:28 AM PDT by wombtotomb

Hey all you FReepers. My son is getting married in January of 2010. I would like some suggestions about a mother/son dance besides Boy of Mine/Bing Crosby.

Just so we have a little insight for your thought process. My son is a product of my first marriage (shotgun wedding that lasted a couple years). My current husband and I have been married almost 19 years now, and is the man that raised him since he was 3. We are a very close family. We are devout practicing Catholics. I am looking for some song that will speak to strong family values, and love between a mother and a son. I am hoping some of you old timers or hard core country lovers might have a few names of songs/artists I can start looking into.

For one instance, the song "There Goes My Life" would be great if it was about a Mother/Son, instead of a Father/Daughter.

If any of you know Kenny, and he would be willing to record a special version for me........ :) ( a girl can dream, can't she)

Anyhow, any and all suggestions would be appreciated, just please list song title/artist/ and album so I can find it! Thanks for all your help!

“The man you’ve become”—I’ve never heard that song, but I’m the mother of a 13 year-old boy and those lyrics brought tears to my eyes. :) Beautiful.

Hmm. I was going say “Baby Got Back” but everyone else’s suggestions are better...

How about something that doesn’t have a “message?” Why can’t it just be something you can dance to and look good doing so?

I am deeply disturbed by that song suggestion and I am laughing hysterically at it.

“Through the Years” by Kenny Rogers might be a perfect country song for a mother/son dance at a wedding.

I have a son who just who just dodged the marriage bullet - good, they were too young - and , though I’m VERY conservative, I like “heavy metal” and “progressive rock” so I was thinking of having them play - ok, it’s “southern rock” but still very rock - “Simple Man” by Lynrd Skynrd. Maybe a little too much for some of you - no, I don’t live in a trailer - but it brings tears to my eyes everytime - “...and just remember there is someone up above...”. Cheers...
