GOP Chairman Michael Steele Calls Limbaugh Comments "Incendiary and Ugly" - Video 2/28/09

Here is video of Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele talking with CNN's D.L. Hughley last night, and calling comments made by Rush Limbaugh during his speech to CPAC "incendiary and ugly." Steele said Limbaugh is not the de facto leader of the Republican Party, and that he is an "entertainter."

This is exactly the point Rush Limbaugh was trying to make in his speech. Republicans need to stop worrying about what the D.L. Hughley's think! They will never like conservatives or Republicans, because they are liberals! Steele should not have disavowed, in effect, what Rush said. He should have hammered home the core principles set forth by Limbaugh in his speech. . . . . (Watch Video)

Limbaugh: ELOQUENTLY stands up for and defends conservative values and principles in the face of legions of critics - “with half his brain tied behind his back, just to make it fair.”

Steele: Stands up for and defends poor, defenseless liberals who have had their feeling hurt by Limbaugh pointing out the flaws and absurdities of their ideology-driven plan to transform this Country virtually beyond recognition.

But I do agree with Steele in one way. Limbaugh is NOT the voice of the Republican party, a fact that he himself has clearly and repeatedly stated. He speaks for many CONSERVATIVES, who have been abandoned by Steele and his groupies.

Steele is an embarrassment to conservatives. Wishy-washy on the 2nd I am sure he will sell us out for a new, even more draconian, AWB in the near future.

Steele is more of the same elitist ignorance of the Republican party, only with a pigment change.

I’m not a big fan of Rush, but I thought his speech was great. It was very Reaganesque, and while listening I couldn’t help but wish that GOP leaders would speak like that once again.

Where are all those FRiends that where so excited that they named Steele to the job?

After actually looking at the video, in fairness to Steele, he was actually defending Rush, pointing out that liberals had said worse about Bush. He went, “yes it was incendiary, yes it was ugly”, and got CUT OFF before he got a chance to get into his “yes BUT”.

The word incendiary was fine. He should have stopped there.

OTOH It was good to see Steele turn the tables on Hugley who was trying to make the dumb point that no one should wish for the failure of the President despite ideology.
Bring up the Dem's Bush derangement syndrome, wishing that every aspect of his administration would fail, shut Hugley up for a moment.

It's like they have two faces, one for the constituency and one for the beltway and the media. Which one is real?

Neither is real. It's not about ideology for them. It's about power, pay, and perks. It's about attending the good cocktail parties, and being invited to golf outings and ski trips to exclusive resorts. And it's about both parties.

The Permanent Overlord Class in DC is only loyal to itself. They will rail against each other in public like two opposing trial attorneys, but you know that once they walk out of the public eye, they are having beers with each other and laughing at the little people.

The GOP is cutting off the possibility of any donations if Steele keeps this up!

“I’m not a big fan of Rush, but I thought his speech was great. It was very Reaganesque..”

How can you not be a fan of Rush, but think that speech yesterday was great? That speech was who Rush is, every day on the radio, every time he is interviewed, every time he expresses an opinion.

Here's my missive, with the following in the "subject" line:
Not happy AT ALL....
Body of message:

.....with the "so-called" conservative leadership in this party. From now on my funds will ALL be going to SARAHPAC,you can believe THAT... I am DONE with the RNC....NO conservative principles left, no backbone,no strength, no fight. NOT MY PARTY. Please remove my name, address and phone number from your database. If I am contacted anyway, expect the phone to be slammed down, and the mailings to go unopened right into the shredder. PERIOD. I am ashamed, disillusioned and FED UP with a party that REFUSES to protect and defend the very people and principles that put them into positions of "power". And a word of advice...STOP being kowtowing cowards and stand up for what this country stands for...anything that the Democrats hate and abhor, you should embrace OPENLY.
Get a clue.

Sincerely,
xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Yes, and when we get those quarterly GOP “questionnaires” we can not only write Close the Borders; we can now also write get rid of Steele before we contribute to the GOP

Limbaugh has done more to get conservative republicans elected than anyone can name. Maybe that’s why Steele has a problem with Rush. Maybe Steele doesn’t want conservatives elected or represented.

There’s nothing ugly and incendiary about the truth.

Patriotism and love of country is an ugly, incendiary thing to those who don't aspire to it, embrace it or are devoid of understanding of it.

And he spoke from the heart! Obama has never spoken from the heart! It’s all fake!
