Love the first pic.
Great photos! Thanks for posting them!

Just awesome. They make the C-17’s here in Long Beach. I live about a mile from the runway. The sound they make on take off is just awesome (my male dog hates it, though).
If you love seeing imagery of our military might, watch the movie Transformers. In addition to having great speciale effects and humore, the director does an awesome job of displaying some of the technology, and even used real military personell for those scenes.

They fly C-17s around where I live. Those things are amazing. They’re so big and so slow, it seems like a miracle that they stay airborne. You can almost hear the air groaning under their weight.
Watching them take off is amazing. They don’t need much runway at all. They are airborne a lot sooner than the commercial aircraft.
One can have a great view from the parking lot of DeVry college here in Long Beach. The plane begins it’s rotation just in line with where you would be standing.
So cool.
Wow, wouldn't have guessed that. On the other hand, if they're unloaded I imagine they would have a lot of extra lift capacity.
They are cool indeed. They look especially cool with the winglets on the tips, which I think are a new addition (or maybe I just hadn't noticed them before..).
