Was that Bill Clinton, or Al Gore wearing a Halloween mask of the 42nd president? He sure sounded as alarmist as the former veep after a weekend of watching An Inconvenient Truth on a continuous loop.
For present purposes, let’s assume it really was a [tired-looking] Bill Clinton chatting with Ann Curry down in Texas, in a clip of a conversation broadcast on Today this morning. Curry opened by asking if the former prez agreed that the economic crisis is the greatest threat facing the USA today.
BILL CLINTON: In the short run. In the medium-term, because I think we’ll come out of the economic crisis, terror and the spread of weapons of mass destruction are. In the long term, the prospect that the climate will crater and we won’t be able to preserve civilization is.

No, to answer my own question. As long as there are suckers to book him as a speaker for big bucks we'll be treated to his pearls of wisdom ad infinitum.
However, why the "global warming" doom and gloom from this huckster? Well, since his insignificant other is now Secretary of State, he knows he's going to be limited on what he can say about foreign policy and related issues during his speeches on the lecture circuit.
Enter the global environment scam into his head. This is where the money is. Billy Jeff can't help but notice that Algore is now a millionaire many times over from being the Guru of Green.
So, watch for Clinton to slowly shift gears to become an environmental-whacko leader. He has to do something or he'll fade into obscurity. He may not have counted on Hillary 's appointment limiting a lot of his options as a speaker on the creamed chicken circuit.
On a personal level, the HillBill relationship is abnormal and sick, yet not too many people seem to care. But their chickens may be coming home to roost as time goes by and they continue to seek power and the spotlight. Their relationship will get even more complicated than it is now because it's intricately intertwined with the march of nation and international events.

Browner, President-elect Barack Obama's pick as global warming czar, was listed as one of 14 leaders of a socialist group's Commission for a Sustainable World Society, which calls for "global governance" and says rich countries must shrink their economies to address climate change.
By Thursday, Mrs. Browner's name and biography had been removed from Socialist International's Web page, though a photo of her speaking June 30 to the group's congress in Greece was still available.
