Here is a brief video report on a survey done by C-Span.org in which they asked Presidential Historians to rank the 42 men who have served as President of the United States (Obama not included). Abraham Lincoln graded out as our greatest President, and James Buchanan as the worst. . . . . . (Watch Video)

As they gloat over George W Bush ranking 36th they ignore Harry S Truman who ranked 5th. Truman had lower approval ratings that W when he left the White House.
Woodrow Wilson at #9? Somebody is smoking some high grade crack.
Bush ranked #36. FDR ranked 3rd.
ther you have it
JFK ranked 6th?!? He just popular because he died.
Carter’s rank is just a complete joke.
Its way to soon to rank W give it a couple of decades
"Jimmy Carter, interestingly went down -- from 22 to 25."
From this I conclude that the rankings are complete nonsense. Jimmy Carter was the worst President in the history of the Universe and any survey that says otherwise cannot be trusted.
Obama will be ranked right up there too, if these C-span “Historians” have their way, even if he turns out to be worse than Buchanan.
It’s not to soon for me. W was the best president of our lifetime and I dare any of those so called historians to try to prove me wrong.
I vote Andrew Jackson as #1...he took no ....from anyone.

Any list that puts Reagan at 10th is clearly not based on facts.
Washington is numero uno, The Indispensible Man according to Flexner. Past is prologue. Lincoln rightly deserves praise for preserving the Union, but there would have been no Union to preserve without Washington. Two Washington quotes: “Being prepared for war is the most effectual method of maintaining the peace.” And: “People must learn to distinguish between oppression and the necessary exericise of lawful authority, to distinguish the spirit of liberty from that of licentiousness.” Wise man. I don’t think he’d recognize the sheer monstrousness of our Republic today. Nor would Jefferson. Both were against mob rule, which is precisely what we have now. Our current leaders are the most intellectually deficient in history. Or according to Mencken, our current government is the “worship of jackals by jackasses.”
It would be interesting to see this list every year and how they ranked the current presidents. You think a historian should have a better long term perspective.
Best Presidents
Washington
Adams
Jefferson
Lincoln
T.R.
Ike
Reagan
“Its not to soon for me. W was the best president of our lifetime and I dare any of those so called historians to try to prove me wrong.”
When were you born? 1989? W is a C at best. Problem is he is surrounded by even worse and bracketed by two Fs.
If they’re ranking 42 presidents, Carter should be 43rd.
