In a move many in the media are describing as ingenious, inspiring, and a breakthrough of epic proportions, Connecticuts Attorney General Richard Blumenthal has asked state regulators to block AT&Ts plan to cut cists by laying-off 400 of its 6800 workers employed in the state.
AT&T is a regulated utility in our state, Blumenthal observed. How, when, and where they do business is a matter of concern and is subject to the oversight of the States Department of Public Utility Control. I am asking that the Department of Public Utility Control prohibit AT&T from taking this action that will worsen the unemployment situation in our state.
The demanded crackdown on AT&T is only a first step according to Blumenthal. With unemployment rates on the upswing everywhere, laying-off workers is the last thing any business should be doing right now, Blumenthal contended. I will be seeking legislation applicable across-the-board to all businesses in the state. A persons livelihood should not be subject to the vagaries of the market. Pursuit of profit cannot be allowed to dictate who does or doesnt have a job. Decisions of this magnitude ought to be made by the government.
Blumenthal rejected allegations that Connecticuts high tax rate might be hampering employment in the state. The size of the tax burden isnt relevant, he insisted. Taxes taken from the incomes of people residing in Connecticut are spent in Connecticut. Its a wash transaction.
Connecticuts state taxes are third highest in the nationup from 24th highest 30 years ago. Combined with federal taxes, Connecticut taxpayers must work longer than those in any other state to pay government levies.

You know things are going south when the satire is so believable.
Apparently the never read “Atlas Shrugged”
another shining example of gov’t regulation. I hope the people of Connecticut enjoy it when ATT raises their rates. I wish the libtards would learn for every action there is a reaction...
I hear foreclosures will be outlawed as well.
You’re good.
Directive 10-289
The usual sly, brilliant John Semmens satire, always just one almost imperceptible millimeter to the left of reality.
As much as this is satire, it still highlights one of the main causes of economic hardships: the unwillingness to let people suffer consequences.
When you keep pumping money into something that isn’t worth the money, whether it be a business or a worker, all you’re doing it stealing money from thos who are worth it and dumping it down the drain.

Most layoffs occur on Fridays. Local demhole state rep here is introducing legislation that bans friday. Problem solved.
The Soviet Union did this with the Kulaks.
Welcome to the Obomination.
It won't be long and there will be no State that business can move to since our Communists Leader in Washington will adopt a Executive Order which will do the same.
Isn’t this what France and Germany do with their socialist mess, ban firings without government approval??
Is this just more Demcorat/Obama Marxism they are trying to creep into this free country??
Piss on them!
Just think of the money that can be saved when auto accidents are outlawed.
