Inspired by anger over billions of dollars in bonuses handed out to Wall Street bankers for the last years largely dismal performance, President Obama declared that now is not the time for these businesses to make a profit.
In an unprecedented expansion of the concept of the president as the US commander-in-chief, Obama insisted that in this time of economic crisis, my administration will make war on profiteering. As long as one person is without a job, those who are fortunate enough to be employed must not be allowed to take bonuses. As long as one business is in bankruptcy, those businesses enjoying a profit must sacrifice to spread the wealth around. We are all in this together. All must contribute to the good of the collective whole. As president, it is my job to see to it that all equitably share in the bounty produced by our economy.
Obamas position received support in congress. Senator Chris Dodd (D-Conn) demanded that the government seize the bonus payments and excess profits of Wall Street and add the money to the stimulus package now under debate in the senate. These greedy profiteers must not be allowed to make decisions that are rightfully the prerogative of the peoples elected representatives, Dodd argued. This is the mandate for change voters demanded when they opted for the Democrats in November.
Senator Claire McCaskill (D-Missouri) seconded Dodds remarks and introduced a bill that would cap the salaries that could be paid to anyone in America to no more than that made by the US President. President is the most important job in the world, she asserted. No one should be more highly compensated than he is.
To avoid subterfuges, McCaskills bill targets total compensation. There will be no skirting the law by funneling pay into bonuses, capital gains, profit-sharing, or any of the other clever dodges used by corporations to elude taxes, she vowed. Income from any and all sources, for any and all persons will be capped at the amount we pay the president. It is the height of arrogance for anyone to expect more.
The presidents current salary is $400,000 per year.

They are despicable.
Par excellence!
Sadly you’re only one step ahead of the socialists with your satire.
I was literally starting to feel nauseous until I realized it was a satire.
They’re not just despicable, they are economically illiterate and if I were Larry Summers or Christine Romer I would resign and make a public statement explaining that I wasn’t responsible for this socialist dogma.
If ever there was a time for businesses to make profits, that time is NOW.
Well, that certainly motivates me to work harder. /s
But hey, look on the bright side. Maybe now that we have been taken over by commie/socialists, we can get the border wall.
Your satire usually makes me smile. Not so this time. Just too darn close. No Kobe beef for you comrade.
They would have the guard towers looking the wrong way.
I’m not so sure that’s going to remain satire for too long. But a good one regardless.
Inspired by anger over billions of dollars in bonuses handed out to Wall Street bankers for the last years largely dismal performance, President Obama declared that now is not the time for these businesses to make a profit.
Great idea. I think he should next attack Tom Cruise and other Hollywood for making obscene profits will not contributing anything of value to the common good of the people. Then on to baseball players that are getting muti-million dollar contracts to play games. Surely this is not right in Obamas socialist world.
I know this is satire, but lets take a look at all the NFL, NBA, and MLB players. How many of those would be willing to play for $400K per year?
How about the leftwing nuts in holly weird? I’m surprised that Hussein isn’t axing for a payraise to match their salaries, rather than axing for them to take less.
100% tax on income over 400k per year?
Yeah, I can see it.
And I know this is satirical, but with the current moonbats running DC, the line between satire and reality gets very cloudy :<(
It’s not getting me this time! lol.
Isn’t that the truth.
Good One.
What are you? some kind of racist? ;>)
I wish the Drive by Media would bother to ask a question before the Great HEADLINES.. Is the company Bonus CONTRACTUALLY Required. The answer would be ... YES... so there’s NO EFFING STORY. Except that it PROVES we have a BOLSHEVIK in the WHITEHOUSE...
GOD HELP US ALL!!
This would be funny if it wasn’t what 0 really thinks.
