The Chicago White Sox are feeling the love of the Obama-Nation. Despite the fact that a sizeable portion of their fan base did not vote for the current President, the team is planning on celebrating the election of their new hometown hero with an Obama-themed cap that could be ready by the start of spring training next month.
Brooks Boyer, the team's vice president and chief marketing officer, commented:
Were very excited. This is somebody whos obviously a White Sox fan, but more importantly, really embraces and embodies the attributes of our brand: the notions of pride, passion and tradition we rally around. Hes made it hip to be a White Sox fan."
If Mr. Boyer is referring to a tradition of

Go Cubs.
Go Cubs is right. And if they pull that same sort of stunt then let them eat crap too.
I am a life long Sox fan, this is the ONLY thing I have in common with Obama. When people tell me I am a south side fan I tell them no I am a south of chicago fan.
Did the White Sox move to Hawaii when I wasn't looking?

You won’t be so excited when you are staring at an empty stadium on game night because nobody can afford going to the game.....
I might get one if they made an “S” for Soetoro version.
Not surprised. Major League Baseball nowadays is just about completely controlled by partisan ‘Rats from Selig on down. Hasn’t been a GOP owner let in into the club since W gave up the Texas Rangers to get into politics. It may be the only business in the country where management is further to the left than “labor,” which may be why they have so many player strikes historically.
There is a huge sign hanging on Comisky, er.. uh excuse my U.S. Cellular Field congratulating “The One”.
Go Cubs... you can say that again!
I remember taking our son to a White Sox game at the old Comisky Park years ago (when they were on the path to winning the division back in the early 1980 or late 70’s). We had pretty good seats behind the plate but I couldn’t help noticing: if you were more than 10 years old and male (most of this crowd) you were drinking, smoking, swearing and getting into fights. After the game, my wife, son and I all agreed: never again!
Here it is late in January and I find myself looking out the window and waiting for spring! Go Cubs Go! And the fact that Obama is a White Sox fan makes it even more reassuring to be rooting for the Cubbies.
Nairobi Sox?
For some reason, your comment made Ernie Kovacs spring to mind. I can just picture Obama-lini throwing out the first ball while the Nairobi Trio plays the national anthem in the background.
ROTFL!
As if you were waiting for the real thing, it was genius in it's own right.
I'm not a fan of either team, but aren't the Cubs' infamous "Bleacher Bums" similar in character? (There was actually a commercial stage production with that title glorifying them, produced by lefty-libs no doubt.)
I don’t think Wrigley’s Bleacher Bums are that bad... except maybe for the beer consumption which I can’t object to (it is the Bleachers after all). I didn’t get to Wrigley real often when we lived near Chicago, but everytime was great. It is the Friendly Confines!
I've been following it for more than half a century, though with diminished interest over the years. There is no doubt that the quality of the experience of watching or listening to a game - for a fan with a reasonable IQ - has declined significantly over the years. As I posted earlier, I lay a lot of this decadence, which is multifaceted, on the leftist mentality of the owners which reflects on just about everything they do. Although it may seem counterintuitive to consider "capitalists" as leftists, these guys are really socialists in many ways, including their political activity. As I said, there is not one owner or major executive functionary that I know of in major league baseball who is recognizable as a Republican; not since W left. Just look at Selig's political contributions for starters; he is a big friend of George Mitchell (which is why Mitchell was hired to do the steroid investigation and was mentioned as the next commissar.)
So this garbage about the White Sox and Obama is very much true to form.
“Let’s play two!” and “Holeeeeeee COW!”
