A Dog By Any Other Name

On his first day on the job, President Barack Obama signed an executive order (his second) barring executive branch staff from accepting gifts from lobbyists. All well and good, but this could create a sticky wicket with the government of Canada, which is in a position to give the president a rare and precious gift: A Labradoodle puppy, a cross between a Labrador retriever and a poodle, whose mother had been rescued from a Manitoba puppy mill.

The Winnipeg Humane Society got the idea to give the Obamas the puppy after the then-president elect said in an interview that the family had narrowed the choice of First Puppy down to a Labradoodle and a Portuguese water dog, but that finding either in an animal shelter was proving “tougher than finding a Commerce Secretary,” reports The Globe and Mail (Toronto). ...

Not a problem. Make 0be pay expenses+ to get the dog. This isn’t difficult.

Obama doesn’t deserve to own a dog. Or more properly, no dog deserves to be owned by Obama. Not even a pit bull mungrel mut.

He ought to go for a cat instead.

Dogs have owners.
Cats have staff.

Yes, but owning a dog puts a stake in the heart of those rumors about him being a Muslim once and for all.

It’s not as simple as what you would think from just reading the excerpt. You’ve got to read the entire aritcle. Trust me, it’s worth it.

There’s something about this dog that makes it impossible for the Obamas to accept him. You have to read the entire article!

So then you know what the “problem” is with this specific dog ...

If the name offends him it’s pretty easy to change.

Thanks for being circumspect and not giving away the punchline! But after 20 years of “worshipping” in Rev. Wright’s church I am betting the Obama’s - Michelle especially - are touchy about this sort of thing and won’t touch the dog with a 10 foot pole.

The dog is white, not black?

(My "black" Lab has white skin)

BO still hasn’t picked a dog? So much for his ability to make difficult decisions. I guess he’ll vote “present” and leave it at that. Sorry kids, you can have a dog when you grow up and leave home.
