Hmmmm. On January 16, 2008, Obama had an approval rating of 83%, which was during the transition, a time when Obama didn't actually do anything (remember "No comment - there is only one president at a time").
Today, a week later, he is at 68%.
What could account for this sudden plunge in popularity?
More . . .

Maybe the entitlement class realized that the Obamachecks are not in the mail.
GITMO and Abortions... give him a few more weeks and he will be about the same as congress... because only about 15% of the country is as far left as our new president.
The headline that would have been written by AP had they been talking about Reagan.
"You may find that having is not so nearly pleasing a thing as wanting. It is not logical, but it is often true. "
1. That insulting comment by Robert Reish-a regarding the white males. (IMO, they should start with Congress)
2. Providing health care benefits to illegals while the Americans with families do without and suffer.
3. That overblown, messiah-thon in D.C. last week.
4. Not being forthcoming with his hatching certificate.
5. Dissing Rush Limbaugh
6. Taking away the rule about abortions in foreign countries.
There are more, but I don’t have time...have to work to pay for him to redo his digs.
15% of his base are pissed because he said a few nice things about Bush.
Looks like his thugs have been trying to take down FR all day....HA...the Robison’s have out foxed them.
The high ‘approval’ ratings are what Americans are giving themselves for electing a mulatto. They - especially suburbian people - feel really good and warm about themselves.
That’s over, and the reality is sinking in. The syncophantic press will be overweening, helping his numbers move down. And more talk from him like “I won’ or “Put away your childish things’ (each whisteled) won’t go far.
And he spit in the eye of those Republicans who came to visit, too. And then the Press Corps, for daring to ask him QUESTIONS!! As if he were a public figure or something.
Let them eat cake, indeed.
I’m going to enjoy watching his approval ratings tumble. Of course the MSM is either going to hide it or blame it on the Republicans (well, conservatives to be more specific). I don’t know how, but I’m sure they’ll find a way.
Obviously GerardKempf is a liberal.
His ratings will continue to tumble, and I will enjoy it as well.
He will tick off the left by trying to stay in the middle, and tick off the right by trying to appease the left. It’s a lose, lose....but it will be fun to watch.
“His ratings will continue to tumble, and I will enjoy it as well.”
That’s the difference between you and me. I fear that what I believe will happen will actually happen. I don’t want to live through it.
I have a deep sense of dread that is quite apart from the zingers, the rhetoric, and the hype. It’s a gut-level thing, perhaps informed by my extensive study of human history. Nothing good happens when people are plunged into poverty, and nothing good happens when a messiah turns out to be a sham, and certainly nothing good will happen if these happen at the same time.
For the record, I believe that 90% of Obama’s decisions to date are actually better for conservatives than what McCain would’ve done. I mean, who wouldn’t thought that Obama would’ve kept the entire Iraq / military structure intact?
RASMUSSEN puts Obama’s JA rating even LOWER:
“Overall, 61% of all voters somewhat or strongly approve of Obamas performance so far while 33% disapprove.”
[Note: To find this information, you must scroll thru Rasmussen’s new ‘strongly approve’ vs ‘strongly disapprove’ tripe — a methodology designed to make Obama’s numbers look better than they actually are.]

Re: Iraq and the military...it’s early. Just give him time to royally screw with those as well. He’s too busy marking his territory at the moment.
Obama invented "Office of the President Elect", complete with HIS own seal:
The seal did include the American bald eagle clutching arrows and an olive branch, but the Latin phrase E Pluribus Unum was changed to Vero Possumus, a rough translation of the Obama campaign slogan, Yes we can.
Obamas seal also removed the shield over the eagles breast, representing the presidents oath to defend the Constitution, and replaced it with the letter O, presumably for Obama, and the image of the rising sun.
The difference in 0's demeanor during Warren's inaugural prayer and Rev. Lowery's inauguration benediction was unmistakenly poinant. Although Lowery's opening with the Negro National Anthem may have been missed by many people, it was not so with the closing remarks which were blatantly bigoted. 0 seemingly found much pleasure and humor from REVEREND Lowery's closing remarks. (I hit the rewind button to make sure I had heard it right... and ensure that I saw this new President gleefully smirking.)
Poser. The 44th President is a poser (among other things.) Hollywood calls him Christ-like. He has throngs of people swooning, fainting, drooling, following and looking to him as the savior of all things.
Plus all the other stuff mentioned on this thread.
Good grief... I should hope his % ratings drop.
I don’t think there is much difference between you and me.
I will enjoy watching his ratings slip because it will expose him to be the non-messiah that he is. I also truly believe that America is so much greater than her individual presidents. Your nation can survive this sham of a leader.
Great leaders are not those who sit on the fence, trying to make everyone like them. Reagan was great because he stood for something - and made no apologies for it. He made everyone aspire for something greater...that is a leader.
I just turned the tv back on tonight since about a week before the annointing of The One. When I hear the words “President Obama”, I still can’t believe it. I still think, however, that America is much greater and will survive this mistake.
the real problem is every time he opens his mouth, the stock market will fall.
There is nothing that he can say to save the markets.
In addition, everything he does increases the probability of a terroist attack.
china said no more arms to taiwan, russia said no more arms to georgia.
there is no way obama’s ratings are as high as W’s after 4 years.
We must subtract the 15% the press gives him.
