Representative Jose Serrano (D-NY) has introduced House Joint Resolution 5a measure that would initiate steps aimed at repealing the 22nd Amendment to the US Constitution. The Amendment, added to the Constitution in 1951, limits an individual to two elected four-year terms as president.
The idea that a man of such immense talent and vision as Barack Obama should be discarded after only eight years in office is foolish, Serrano contended. At only 47 years old, he could easily serve another 20 years or more. Why should the nation be forced to settle for lesser men as long as hes willing to serve?
Electing a president and changing an administration is expensive and time-consuming, Serrano pointed out. We ought to be looking for ways to reduce this burden on the American people.
Serrano suggested that voters be given the option of reelecting a sitting president for life. After the first four years, voters should have a pretty good idea of whether they like the guy, Serrano said. They should be given the chance to extend his term for as long as hes willing to serve. This would reduce the frequency, and thereby, the costs, of recurring, unnecessary elections and the accompanying turnover in executive branch personnel.
In related news, a new poll shows that Obama is very popular in the state of New Jersey, with over 108% of registered voters favoring his reelection.

Oh please tell me that this is a JOKE....
This is the trick about Satire ... some of it’s real, most of it’s false... getting harder and harder to tell which is which, tho.

sorry ‘bout that
I would be willing to get rid of the 22nd ammendment if we can drop the 16th and 17th ammendments as well.
and this sentence is scary as hell - elections are now 'burdens'...alrighty then
LOL.... it’s too scary to laugh too hard, but good one.
btw, I think that Obambi is over 100% in Chicago, Philly, and lots of other Demagogue strongholds, too.
Let's just call him Barac"King Hussein" Obama for short...
LOL!
Thank you for making me laugh at something that is despicable...namely Serrano, and his dangerously ridiculous ideas.
I believe his approval rating in Philly is higher than 108%... ;^)
Let’s hope the people wake up from their drunken stupor and toss out the trash in 4 years.
IIRC, it takes 2/3 majority vote in both houses of Congress to propose a Constitutional amendment to the States and 3/4 of the States votes approval to ratify an amendment. Lot harder to get done than it seems like at first.
Since Obama’s come on the scene, real life has become much weirder and more extreme than any satire.
A treasonous rat from NY... Just great.
We get some of the worst mayors, governors, Senators, and Congress critters.
There’s no information for H.R. 5 on THOMAS.
Serrano proposed this (but did’t say it was so Obama could serve forever that’s the satire part), it’s been proposed by someone the last few congresses. It won’t go anywhere neither will Jesse Jackson Jr’s annual amendment that you have a “right to safe clean affordable housing”.
And I’m glad. Thank goodness they can only serve 2. Repealing it would be insane.
BJ Blythe would have won a third term in 2000.

‘Just damn’ to this case.
That’s a fact.
FWIW, I predict b[end] 0[ver]’s popularity will drop significantly when he does not fill their gas tanks and pay for their homes.
He promised them the world, but will not deliver what they want. It’s just a matter of time and his poll numbers will plummet.
