"Three terms for Barak Obama??
AOL ^ | Jan 14th 2009 | Mark Impomeni

With President-elect Barack Obama set to take the oath of office to begin his first term, one New York Congressman wants to make it possible for him to one day serve a third. Representative Jose Serrano (D) has introduced a bill in the House to abolish the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution, which limits presidents to two consecutive terms or ten years in office.

Until 1951, there was nothing preventing a president from seeing election for more than two terms. But all presidents prior to Franklin Delano Roosevelt honored a tradition begun by George Washington and served only two consecutive terms. Roosevelt stood for election for an unprecedented third term at the dawn of World War II and was elected to a fourth, only to die in office within months of his inauguration. He is the only American president to serve more than two terms.

You said — “I’ll be surprised if he lasts one term.”

Yeah, you’re right there. If he’s an inept as many say he is, here on Free Republic — and with the economy going down the tubes, as it is now — people are going to hold Obama accountable after three or so years of economic woes...

You nailed it Joe!

The Kingmaker!

It is his goal to see the U.S. republic humbled and driven into chaos.

You said — “The left wants PERMANENT CONTROL and will do all that is possible to make it so!!”

Well, I would venture a guess that the Republicans would like permanent control just as much... LOL... I mean — *wouldn’t you* want the Republicans to be permanently in control — or are you saying that you like the Democrats taking over every other time? :-)

But, really, it still takes 3/4 of the states to ratify such a thing, and I don’t think you can get that. And it also takes several years to get this kind of ratification process going. Remember, they couldn’t get the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) off the ground either....

You said — “Pass the popcorn....”

Yeah, let them fizzle away all their political capital on this kind of crud. It won’t get them anywhere, except spinning their wheels...

You said — “Chavez amended the laws so he could be dictator in perpetuity.”

I don’t think he’s accomplished that yet. I know he’s trying, but it’s not something that is done. I was just reading some article about Chavez soliciting big oil company bids to help with oil projects, and in that article it said that he was still trying to change the laws in that regard, so he could continue on.

You said — “I say we end this political system, pick a person at random to serve as president every 4 years. That would end the special interests and common folk would act in the countries interest, end of story.”

Well, I guess we could then go for a Constitutional Convention — undo all that the founding fathers set up and do that. Sounds good... LOL...

Anything that goes wrong the next four years will be blamed on Bush, and by 2012 there may be 5-10 million newly enfranchised voters (present illegals who will be amnestied). Will the Republican Party be in a position to run a credible campaign in 2012, or will Obama's opponents be Libertarian and Green Party candidates?

The Clintonistas won't be in favor of repealing the 22nd amendment, if they are hoping to run Hillary in 2016.

I think mine’s from Vermont. I wonder what the difference in flavor might be? I’m pretty sure they both have about the same quality....(or lack thereof)...

Lol...

LOL Most of these folks are not the blunt smoking type. More rum and beer type— some selling a little perico on the side (cocaine) to buy mamacita a new outfit. Actually, the Dominican population (like most of the Mexicans) are hard-working folks, just that they have bought into the identity politics of the Dems.

One term’s enough, as long as you abolish elections.

Seriously, the cheddar cheese popcorn a friend got me from some ‘gourmet’ outlet in Chicago...was simply the best I’ve ever tasted.

Can’t remember the name, just that it comes in large blue ‘tins’.

Probably best I can’t remember it, I’ve lost forty pounds since the last one!

Its ‘Garetts’ popcorn out of Chicago. Expensive, but worth it.

You can make your own by taking the ‘cheese’ packet in the Kraft Mac and Cheese box, add sea salt to it and shake it up, then sprinkle it on the airpop popped corn as it flies into the brown bag catcher to which the corn exits as it pops. ‘Course, you could collect the air popped corn, spray it lightly with butter flavored PAM and sprinkle the mix on then ... grab lots of napkins.
